Title: 1,000km Servicing
Post by: clarence on August 16, 2008, 09:59:29 PM
Is it better to have 1st oil change at 900km, or stretch it to 1,200km?

Either I service next week when my mileage will likely be 900km, or the week after when my mileage will likely be 1,200km.

Is it safe to drag and delay the first critical oil change?

mine was done at 1300+ for first service... no problem at all.  After all, next change will be at 5k.

Is there a reason why need to drag till servicing timing? Beside busy or no time reasons?

To me, it always to be slightly early or on time. like i just done my 10K servicing at 8.1km.dragging the Engine Oil change it not a good thing unless u r using Long Life Oil but 1st, 2nd are still in mineral oil.

Fresh Engine Oil makes your car drives better.

Assuming that you will change to synthetic oil, your next servicing will be 20K, i.e. another 12K.  Will it be slightly too long or you plan to do it at 18K?

gh05tss,

You can have frequent synthetic oil change at 5,000km at mineral oil price.

Use 'Triple R' brand fully synthetic oil which can be found at Giant or Carrefour.

4l only $29.90.

Compare that with Mobil 1 or Shell Helix Ultra which costs $90+ for 4l.

My Latio is YOM2007.

I am just worried that the engine oil from factory is already sitting in the engine oil slump for 1 year since the car was manufactured 1 year ago.

Is it still effective in protecting the engine?

I change every 5k or every 3 months.

If I not wrong, as long the car is not ready for use, car has no oil.

Can anyone verify this?

But I doubt Tan Chong will bother to drain all engine oil from the hundreds of cars in its warehouse and refill it in again upon car delivery.

That's why say you got lobang mah....  $20 at TCM? $40 is the amount my ex-workshop charges.
Actually, if I can find place to get rid of my oil, I will change myself every 5000 also.
