What temperature do you set your Latio air con thermostat?
I set mine at 24 degrees but find it really stuffy as most of the time it is room temperature air coming out from teh vents.
Only when I set it to 23 degrees does cold air come out for a longer period.
-
I had been using 25 / 26 for the last 2 yrs plus. It works well and quite cooling except on rainy days where the temperature outside is cold.

always on 25deg at step 1/2 for the past 10mths, so far so good...
-
my a/c most times 22... hot day 19. night rainy maybe 23..
-
for me most of the time 25.. only on some extreme hot day set to 24/23.. usually use manual blower set to 2 bar.. auto blower is too strong at starting and too low after reach the pre-set temp... so will feel stuffy.. ;)
-
mine is normally 25. only hot weather then 22/ 23.
-
Mine is 23 or 24 depending on the weather. But my dad always puts much lower..
-
Most of the time 26 degree............ :cool2:
Set at 25 too cold liao .............
sometimes i even set 27 when cold..... :D
-
Mine is mostly 23 or 24.... I believe outside temp does affect how fast the aircon really kick in. Like today, early in the morning, rain heavily, air con cool very fast....

I experienced the opposite. During hot days, set at 24 degree can feel the cold air. When raining days, get warm air if set at 24 degree. So got to set lower on raining days. Air-con try to be smart and compensate with auto climate control, but overdo it.

yeah agree ur point on the ******** AI aircon control, I'm always on 25 deg unless hot day then i set to 22. However, i'd encounter several times - either at night when it's cold or raining days, the air seems to be warmer than the atmosphere outside and u can really feel it's like warm air. Guessed quite a few pple here experienced the same too..
-
usually set to 24 or 23... with fan blow at 1 or 2....
-
set at 23C all the way no matter weather hot sunny cold rainy snow or stormy...
Latio air-con if 25 & above feels juz like my house fan blowin totally hot & stuffy
Y like dat ah? i sit my fren altis hot sunny aftnoon he set 27C very fast cool oledi
-
Maybe your air con compressor is faulty?
Faster go back to Tan Chong to get free replacement during warranty.
-
I always set my a/c at 28 for normal weather, 25 or 26 at fan 2 when it is damn hot. I experienced a/c not cold when i first collect my car, after i told them the issue during my 1k servicing, my a/c been in tip top condition for past 1 year. I would recommend you guys to tell TCM of your car a/c issue.
-
There was once when i felt my a/c not feeling cold at 24. Didn't bother until 5k servicing and when collect car, found the a/c has been re-set to 27 by TCM. Quite surprise to find 27 quite cold during the night but not day time. Adjusted a/c to 25 the next day and it has since been serving me well for the past 3 months. The next time you go for servicing, can try to set it 24 or lower and tell them a/c not cold. They will rectify for you.

I think Nissan has a "weird" air-con adjustment algorithm. There are temperature sensors just under and slightly to the left of the steering wheel. And an "external" sensor near the windscreen.
Say you set 26C. On a hot day, that 26C will make the aircon compressor compensate by running the compressor much harder because the "external" sensor thinks "boy it's a really hot day".
On a cool day, the "external" sensor says "I don't really think he wants cold air right now" and runs the compressor under light load. The internal sensor thinks the temperature is just fine because it is located lower down where cold air sinks.
-
Maybe you can place a piece of aluminium foil over the air con sensor on the dashboard to overcome this issue.
-
mine always 26 on normal day, 23 on hot day, blowing at level 1.... :yehyeh:
-
mine is usually at 25 on normal days, super hot days would lower to 22. i remember before my 1k servicing my a/c cools really slowly and i told TC about the problem. think they did do sth about it as after the servicing my a/c has been serving me so well that my front passenger will complain that it is too cold even on 25 on normal days.

I think you can get over this problem by putting a small piece of cardboard over the sensor located on top of the dashboard.

Hi Bro, where is the external sensor near the windscreen? Understand that the sensor under the windscreen in front of the passenger seat is for lighting to activate auto-on headlamp?
-
There is no auto headlamp on feature for Latio.
It is avail in Cefiro.
-
My CVT has auto headlamp and the sensor is below the windscreen of the passenger side. Understand the 4AT doesn't have....right? By the way, complained to TCM on my last 5k servicing (last month) that the AC was not cold and in the service report, it indicated an AC Temp reset was done. Have been driving at 27C and it can get quite cold on rainy days.

mine hv leh. think only premium version hv it

Whenever i parked my car under the sun in the morning ...then ard noon, get onto the car...it is so hot tat even when i put max fan speed and min temp also cannot cool the car for my 15mins drive to my lunch destination......i wind down the window before driving off to let off hot air also no use....dun know is it because mine is black....
-
Dark coloured cars tend to attract heat like bees to honey.
Even the best window tinting will not help as the heat radiation via the metal is greater.
And if your seats are black, even more heat attracted.

I had the same problem. Used to set 23 or 24 degree. Suddenly, 23 also not cold at times. Told TCM during recent servicing. Report put "A/C Efficiency Check" and was told that they clean the air-con filter. Now got to set it to 26 or 27 degree (else too cold). Really wonder if the cleaning is so effective or is it that they change the degree display only (meaning that the air-con work as per normal, but the temperature displayed is shown at a higher degreei).

The conventional knob type for air con temperature setting (found in new facelift Latio) seems to be better.
This pre facelift Latio digital air con temperature setting seems problematic.
-
can try manual setting?

Is it? When i drive my latio in the morning and evening, usually 25degree at min fan speed is enough liao...also, i am alone in the car lar....in addition, i am afraid of cold...... :zipped:
-
i also do that.. most of the time (morning & in evening) >> i also set my temp to be 25 or 25
unless i drive out for lunch/meeting in afternoon then i might lowered it to 23
but on average >> its 25

Woah...that's precisely the combination that I have for my ride currently, black ride w black leather seat....currently using V-Cool, but on hot afternoon, still very hot despite the max air con...usually need abt 10-15min before it cools down...

Mine the same config also...when i bought my car...the SE told me clearing stock to make space for the F/L....so only left with white and black car...wanted to take the white one but interior is beige...look very auntie...though i not young also...so in the end chose black car with black interior....not bad for ur car to cool in 10-15mins....mine is not VCool...i just saw the sticker the other day and saw tat it is max something....in the afternoon...my car can't even cool in 20mins...sign....

Black interior and exterior is worst combination in such hot tropical climate.
But it looks very nice ;D
You probably paid $53K for your pre facelift YOM2007 Latio? Now new facelift YOM2008 fresh stock Latio only $52K.

An auntie tat has gone wild is beyond reasons and incapable of sanity......auntie coming...u wait....haha....will give u friendly horn if i see u on the rd... :devil2:
Btw, do u guys notice tat if u set min fan speed and temp to 25...the fan blows softly...and then u change the temp to 23 keeping fan speed settings to min...the fan blows loudly...wonder they really just change the display only...

hi!
when u set ur temp at 25 and fan lvl 1, if u change the temp to 27, the fan seem become softer. think this is their temp control bah.

I not so sure abt this....at least i know altis, Mazda3 and old model of lancer is not like tat..when i decrease the temp keeping the fan speed to min...the air tat blows out just get colder without the louder fan blow.. :confused1:
-
Fan noise is dependent on blower speed. The higher the blower speed, the noiser it gets.
Nothing to do with temperature setting.
Can send to Tan Chong to ask them to check.
-
wah, u all all scared cold type... mine aircon nowadays either 21 or 22... with fan speed either 1-3

No wonder Nissan replaced the digital setting with conventional knob type in their F/L latio. I thought Latio is very reliable car but after went thru the forum here and spotted some issues associates with Latio. hmm, haven't enjoy my ride yet witness few problems already... sign... :crying:

All make and model of any have the Pros & Cons, there's isn' any perfect car.
Go around into other car make forum, there's everything of anything.

Dun worry lar....you will enjoy your ride once u get it....like i learn to enjoy mine......not all the problems u see here will happen to you....sometimes...i think buying a car is like buying toto....very much dependent on luck....i have friends who owns altis and mazda 3...and have many problems tat i dun have....so far my latio did not give me any performance issue...all problems are more static issues....like the maxi thing (UV protection) did not stick properly.....but still not too bad....kind of wondering...should I have bought a Mazda 2 instead.....oh well...given the FC....i think you and I got a gd buy.... :yehyeh:

I think the F/L one is not the true blue analgo style knobs found in the Sunny. It's meant to look analog ;) you might want to confirm this again when you get your car. Don't worry lah... every car will have some nitty gritty issues here and there.. as long as it doesn't affect safety it's fine. My friend's altis, got the car, aircon controller board also up the lorry. need to change.. these things happen. as long as not every 2 weeks i need to park my car at the workshop it's fine :)

Conventional knob gives me the feeling of old fashion and obsolete technology. Digital have a more advanced feeling. Just like digital camera vs conventional camera.

There are multiple sensors in that assembly. Once I figured out how it behaves, just have to set the temperature accordingly.
I think digital control is nice. It can't be that difficult to make. All domestic air-conditioners use it. It should be more reliable than the old fashioned bi-metallic strip...

Wow Clarence boy boy, you changed car so fast? From June 2008 got your Latio, Sep 2008 become Sylphy ? Just because air con not optimum ?
-
Uncle, the Latio is still with me.
My wife has taken over the Latio as it is more convenient for her to drive in her new job.
I got the Sylphy at an all time low price (since launch) of $59,500 after cashback from the SE, deduct $500 for DS3 body kit and Nissan owner discount.
It's all about timing. Decided to take the plunge when COE crashed to $9,500 earlier this month and secured my COE 2 days ago at a high $14,100.
I will be collecting my Sylphy latest by next Saturday. ;D

You bough a 1.5 sylphy? Dun really understand the difference between sylphy and latio...both also 1.5...but sylphy cost so much more...is it worth it other than the more luxury interior?
-
Latio and Sylphy shares the same engine but when it comes to interior space and boot, Sylphy is world apart in terms of space (like stretch limousine, can cross leg when sitting behind) and luxury feel.
Latio OMV is $14,000. I bought at $53,000
Sylphy OMV is $17,500. I bought at $59,500
So actual price difference is only an extra $39.60 a month or $1.32 a day for a Sylphy.
But now Sylphy price has gone up to $64,000 so it is not worth to buy anymore.

i second that ;)
frankly speaking, Sylphy's exterior look more classy than the weird out of proportion latio...juz mho..

feel taht our air con sap a lot of our engine power.. can feel the diff in power with n w/o air con on :weep:
-
It applies to all cars below 1600cc to experience some shortage of power when the air con compressor is working.

Orrhh.....then think i should stop blasting the air-con when i start the car after a day under the sun.....::) :bleh:

Wind down all your windows to allow the hot air to escape for the first 5 minutes of your journey.
Less load on your air con compressor to cool your interior.

Hi, my first post here. Just wanted to input that the conventional knob is ok -- think of those modern hi-fi set where you can adjust the volume by turning a "conventional" knob but the display shows the volume digitally, ie. 90dB, or 01 to 20. It is still digital, just makes the method of adjusting more conventional, compared to pushing buttons to adjust temperature. Well, another example is ipod, where they don't use push button to scroll thru the song list, but uses a high-tech "conventional knob", if you know what i mean. ::)
Well, that's just my 2 cts. I just secured my COE this week, so now still waiting for delivery of my F/L Latio. ;D Whether the knob or aircon system is any good/bad, only time will tell. Fingers crossed - please be good. :yehyeh:
-
From my past experience, the less electronics used, the better.
I would say your facelift Latio manual air con knob would be more hardy than the digital one used in the pre faceliftt Latio.
But digital is supposed to be more advanced than manual, so it is a surprising move by Nissan Japan to replace the digital air con with the more conventional knob control.

Does it comes with Plasma Ion? I know Msia local assembly Latio comes with the normal knob and without Plasma Ionizer.
Btw, i also set my aircond usually ~25, only set to 23 or 24 when weather too hot and when i start to drive. Tink if u set below 23 and still hot/warm, that means aircond something wrong le, better get it check at TC.

sometimes when i was soak wet when i get into the car during raining days...
I set my car a/c to 35C... to blow warm air to dry my self!

you are so right....our latio being a JDM, comes with heater...most of the car in Sg does not comes with heater....not tat we need it....there is no winter in Sg.....haha...:yehyeh: :yehyeh:
