Hi all, how does it actually feel when ABS kicks in?
Was driving along PIE with heavy drizzle earlier when I realised that the car's not stopping when I stepped on my brakes. Moreover my speed was not too fast, around 50km/hr.
It took around 2.5m for my car to completely stop. Also felt that there was some noise at my brakes. Is that ABS?
Maybe should go for a check at TCM.

ABS kick in got The "Track tak tak tak tak" sound u can even feel it on the brake pedal...

tak tak tak tak, brake pedal going against ur feet, feels like brake pedal is elevated. No worries, very common :D

Abs by itself is not designed for tight turns. ABS maintains car's steerability by preventing wheel lock but it won't help very much in a bend because our cars don't have traction control.
Full traction control will vary the brake pressure between the left and right side and front and rear to prevent wheel lock/slip in a turn.
In any case, NEVER brake in a turn! Always decelerate then turn. If you brake in the turn, your rear may slide off or even worse, cause an overturn.
Apply power as you are leaving turn because for our front whee drive, it will help with the steering.

Yup i agree
now i also slow down alot more before enter bend but sometimes no choice still have to brake

I tot ABS only kicks in if u do eBrake or depressing the brake pedal hard to the floor. I only encounter once at AYE when the car in front of me suddenly brake and i had to brake very hard. This is where u feel the four tyres got something hold and release, hold and release a few times to stoppage.
Yup i agree

... i get it quite a few times cos i tend to tailgate when drivers hog the roads esp on 1st lane.. then when they step brake.. i will have to jam hard. the worse was the car in front of me suddenly jammed brake for nothing on a fast moving traffic and i was travelling at 140km.hr behind him.. i had to slam hard on my brakes.. abs kicks in and my whole body was thrown fwd.. thank god for our seatbelt .. lol.. i was "stunned" for few seconds.. then i overtake him and give him a taste of his medicine.. childish i know.. but i was at the moment of "heat" ..

Latio also has EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) feature that ensures that your car stays within the designated track when braking hard.
