Open the windows after you enter your car
In brief, the above article says: According to research done by a U.C., the car dashboard, sofa, air freshener will emit Benzene, a cancer causing toxin (carcinogen). In addition to causing cancer, it poisons your bones, causes anemia, and reduces white blood cells. Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer. May also cause miscarriage.
Acceptable Benezene level indoors is 50 mg per sq. ft. A car parked indoors with the windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Benezene. If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benezene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level. The people inside the car will inevitably inhale an excess amount of the toxin.
It is recommended that you open the windows and door to give time for the interior to air out before you enter. Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver, and is difficult for your body to expel.

Thats what i have been doing since 1997 when i get my first ride every time i go into my car i would unwind down all my windows on aircon and drive for about 1-2 mins b4 i close it....i think we all especially have to take note of new cars which got the new car smell which i think is a concentrated cocktail of toxic plastic and chemical fumes.....also i do not use car perfumes as i think most of it contains artificial fragrances derive from man made chemicals....1 reason i chose latio is also becos of the plasma ion aircon which cleans the air inside our car therefore we can opt not to use car perfumes in our car and still get clean fresh smelling air

is using charcoal a better choice rather than perfumes

i think charcoal is a good alternative as i know that they can absorb odour and cure diarohea as during my army days i remeber my MO gave me charcoal pills the size of almost 50cents coin for diarohea and man do they work well 1 pill is enough to stop the diarohea

Yup! i swear by those charcoal gel products. Got rid of durian smell in my car after just a few days.
i also use charcoal gel for my fridge. ;D

It is also good practise to wind down your windows to allow the hot air and built-up humidity to escape - this improves the cooling efficiency of your car's air-con.
Pandan leaves are also good to remove bad smell from car and ensures your car has no cockroaches.

i also wind down my windows for 1 or 2 mins...
for charcoal gel>>> i put REAL charcoal in a small plastic box with holes on top>> it works toOo!!! :yehyeh:
-
for those with window visors, we can lower the windows slightly to leave a gap
troublesome but worth the effort as the hot air and "poisonous" gases can escape
kill two birds with one stone

I think most of u are white collar worker working in a nice environment....I am a white-blue collar worker where my working area are often covered with huge trucks tat has a lot of mud and with dusty roads....on such condition, i almost never wind down my window when i get into the car...as trucks pass by...u can see the yellow dust they stir up as a layer of mist....dun think i wan to breath these and get my car interior all dirty....

Thanks for the tip.
I use pandan leaves as it drives the cockcroach away and leaves a nice smell in the car. Prefer it to car perfumes which I think are too strong.

In the first place...if u practice no eating and drinking of sugared drinks in car....then u wun attract pest to live in ur car.....as for pandan leaves...it only drives cockcroach away from where u leave the pandan leaves....for car perfumes...can try the japanese bottled gel type one...the one with a mist white glass bottle....find the smell light and pleasant.....
