Hi all,
jus heard from my frenz that his FC improved from 400km++ to 500km++ for his full tank when he changed his tyres filled with nitrogen gas.
the figure look very impressive.
any bros pumping nitrogrn gas got the same experience? pls share
-
100km different just by using nitrogen :w00t:
-
haha.. think more likely the tyres were underinflated in the first place :bleh:

that was wat i was told.
anyway my friend said he will monitor on his 2nd tank of petrol to confirm the result.

No diff, in fact found it more troublesome as u'll still need to top up at least onece every 2 weeks.
Under inflated tyres is the no. 1 cause of higher FC. In fact seen many cars on the roads in such conditions and worst off all would pump when tyres are hot and not compensated with higer pressure when pumping hot.

Read the manual lah. :bleh:
There is a thread in on tires and lots of discussion and sharing.

All the car mechanics I know tell me, "Don't waste your money on nitrogen gas." ;D

Any reasons given?

Bros & Sis,
Any one know a place where there is a "subscription plan" for nitrogen top up?
I change my tyre on Mon at Soh Tyre. Their Nitrogen top up is $5 per tyre per instance. Stamford Tyre offers $60 life-time subscription ...
Was wondering any place offer a better plan than the above?
Thank you
Rgds

Hey, how does he define full tank? Till low fuel warning light or car running out of petrol? I can even get 400KM when the needle at 1/4. Use km/L is more meaningful.

after 1 time nitrogen top-up, u can ocassionally pump ur tyres at petrol kiosks no prob with mixing dats wat the tyreman said...
-
Thanks pizzaboy. But that will negate the benefits of Nitrogen in the tyres.
For those bros or sis whom is using Nitrogen in their tyres, may I check how often you guys top up and where u all top up?
Thanks
Alan

done my 10K servicing (at every ~4mths) at Autosaver with free N2 top-up.
when topping N2, pls ensure proper procedure;
1. set to desire pressure and plug-in nozzle
2. N2 will start to inflate to "desire pressure" first (*therefore Compressed-air + N2 in tyre)
3. on beeping "END" shows, then it will start to completely deflate tyre (*remove All air, tyre become soft)
4. after this, N2 will start to inflate to your "desire pressure"
*for above procedure, each tyre will take ~5mins to fill N2 completely.
*very often, some shops only do step 1~3 (*unethical !!)

Hey Bros and Sisters,
Aren't we forgetting something here?
Air is nearly 80% nitrogen anyway.
Would actually changing the proportion of nitrogen by 20% really make that much difference?
Doubts Doubts :confused1:
-
I used Nitrogen when it's FOC, pay for it, never, effect? Don't feel anything except it last longer between inflating to desired pressure. What you're pumping into your tyres at the tyre shop should have 78% nitrogen, just be careful, there are times where I find that there is water when I put the nozzle a the tyre vavle, I stop straight away and pump the tyre on another occassion.

Just some FYI
Aircraft tyres are only filled with N2 and can only be N2, coz normal air expand and contract too erradically so may cause tyres to crack bulge or worse burst.
So unless ur tyres as fast as aircraft do, i seriously doubt any benefit for daily use
The only likely scenario I would use is probably driving through the Sahara desert. :bleh: No lar maybe long distance trip such as to distances beyond KL and Penang etc.
-
Always thought Aircraft tyres are solid. Air filled might exploded at high altitude. Guess I was wrong

Yes u are right, one of the reason for air fill aircraft tyres is high Alt prob, but I was also taught that upon landing tyres fill with normal air will expand too fast can burst typres.
-
Oops, wrong aircraft. Sorry. You very fast, want to edit also no time.

Edit for u.....

May :Offtopic: abit.
I also understand that airplane tyres are solid tyres not only may burst due to high altitude but also may burst due to the impact during landing.

FYI I pump N2 to aircraft tyres at some point of my career, so if you are trying to tell me aricraft tyres no need to pump N2, sorry unable to relate to that.
-
aiyah, from the description and picture of tyre with sidewalls etc ==> aircraft tyres not solid lah

ORH yah I know ah......some 13 ply some 17 ply.....depends on requirement.

great that you know but there were some forummers who may be labouring under the impression of the tyres being solid and that was why I posted the link

:D
Car tyres talk become aircraft tyres talk and some may be even toying to debunk me AC tyres are indeed solid not knowing I pump N2 for F-5S.
LOL
