Car is 2 years 11 months old and this is the 2nd time changing Aircon Compressor, I'm not complaining because I got a brand new aircon compressor just one month before warranty expire.
Yesterday morning, while driving my daughter to school, suddenly the car die off at a junction, re-started it and notice that there is a loud whinning sound so decided to turn off the aircon to test and the sound was gone. Later went down to TCM Ubi to get the aircon done, first thing the SA say is I need to pay $80.00 for diagnostic because I did not do my regular servicing there, I was thinking WTF do diagnostic when the obvious reason the engine died was due to extra load by the compressor. THe SA said because the engine die, they must do diagnaotic test, I told them I wasn't going to F*****g pay $80.00 for plugging a ******** OBDII tool into my OBDII Socket, he called a senior SA and it was settled that there is no need to do diagnostic.
WTF SA do they have. Damn - like the car but hate the people at TCM. Luckily, I did not have to argue because the total charge was 0. Damn Lucky

Only 65K km, lots of short trips on this ride. Just recently replaced my battery so it's 2 batteries and 2 air-con compressor.

No problem, in fact if there were any, I would have made hell alot of fuss when I collect the ride, I just can't believe that the SAs can talk without logic. And they charge $80.00 for plugging the OBDII reader just to read your engine error code.

hi rooneytoon2004
how come that can happen?
if we service @ tcm every 10000km, they do check for us right?

provided u go back to them regularly after the free servicings.
but i am no sure whether it is the reason that contribute to the compressor break down for the bros here. that is the only explaination i can think of.

What is the symptom if the air con compressor need a replacement?

I've been driving for 28 years and this is the only time that I need to have my aircon compressor replaced twice in less than 3 years with less than 70K km on the odometer. My last ride, was 3 years old with above 100k km on it and did not even have a single problem. Aircon compressor problem seems to be inherent in some batches of the Latio. Replaced my first compressor with assembly when the ride was about 6 months old.
-
yeap, service outside or not. It should still cover under 3 yrs warranty for another month. this should be isolated case.
-
yah true my bro-in-law who is a tcm technician said that the common problems for our ride is steering wheel coupling replacement & a/c compressor replacement...
He told me that as long as our car is within the warranty period how many times we wanna have our part replaced tcm gotta do it for us, sometimes why SA wanna charge this & that is because it adds up to their total bill amt collected for the month thus more commission will be earned by them. They are earning a basic pay + commission scheme that is watever bill amt charged to their customers they attended to, they will be able to enjoy a certain % of comm at the end of the mth...

So how we know which batch of latio we are in with the compressor problem?? Scary lei...latio is so unreliable? Recently had my latio gone for 10,000km servicing, and on the form tat states wat was done, there was a comment that ask me to check my battery water monthly to prolong battery life......i tot dun maintainence free one lei....my last car, altis, which is 2.5 yrs old i also never check battery water once....if battery spoil and within warranty period is free???
-
think all these common issue happen to those YOM 2005 & 2006.. newer batch are lesser problem... (cross fingers)
-
no lar the below portion is juz a comment keyed in by the SA its their SOP way of keyin service report, even when my batt is dry cell maintenance free type i still see the comment below... haha :)
