Title: Alternator
Post by: kymdad on March 28, 2009, 05:34:13 PM
Dear bros

Last week my maintenance-free battery went dead after 1 yr and 3 months.

Luckily there is a auto shop behind my parents' house so I got a new battery from them.

The guy at the same time check my ride and he said I have a alternator problem and advise me to quickly go TCM and get it fixed otherwise my new batt will also not last, or worst still my car may stall during driving....

I am a (still) a goondu to all these car parts so I would like to seek advices from all of you...like, has anyone got this problem too? Is it something that can be repaired or must be replaced?

My CVT just passed 3 years last week.

Thanks for your advices.

This happens to me last week but on my company's van. The bateery indicator kept blinking, thought nuthing of it until 1 morning the van cannot start, had to jump start. Drive from cck to workshop at alexandra, half way at AYE beside clementi  swimming pool, the van stall. Call tow truck and at workshop, they check and put new battery, can start but battery indicator still blinking. Mechanic check say the alternator must change. Change alternator everything back to normal.

Thanks, learn new thing, battery indicator flash doesn't mean battery is weak, alternator may be the culprit.

battery symbol flashing means there is no charging in the electrical system in your car. With that, your car will stall even if you're able to start it.
