Title: No power loss for RON 92
Post by: capcorn on March 30, 2009, 10:59:40 AM
Hi people,

After reading some posts in the forum abt pumping RON92,  I decided to experiment it with my latio.

I used to pump RON 95 (caltex) and occasionally Platinum to give my engine a treat.
I pumped RON92 over the weekend and I feel that there is no difference at all in power between 92 and 95.
No power loss... Latio has no power to begin with, so with 95 or 92, my pickup and going up slope is still equally slow (sad)...

Going to do a full tank 92 and test the FC...

I have also tried RON 92. Mine is the CVT type. have tried all th different brands of 92 and there will be some power loss. You will need at least 3 tanks to see the difference. Mileage wise is affected. 95 Esso give me the best mileage and power.

Result will only come out after you finish your 3rd full tank.

I tried before Ron92 but my car just feel so powerless after the 3rd tank when i resume ron95 I can feel the power back after the 2nd tank.

Btw, Latio ain't that bad on it power nor it pickup...

i'm on my first full tank of RON92 - Caltex...
its now about half tank left...
...already feeling the loss of power....not to say i regret lah...
its cheaper..now lookin at the mileage...whether same or better (hopefully)
if i really can't bear the power loss...i may switch back to 95....

yeah i find it weird too, when i pump shell or caltex 95 can last me at least 500km b4 reserve lite up but when i pump mobil, spc or esso 420km lights up oledi... wonder wats the theory behind it??

I heard from my colleague that BHP & Petronas has very good travellin mileage wonder any of u guys tried b4?

pizzaboy, every three tank of RON 92 one tank of platinum might be equal to the price of 4 tank of RON 95.
i think iagree's method (between 92 and 95 only) will be more cost effective.

whattafarck, when the tank is full, i always feel tat the car is more powerful.
I used to pump RON95, when it is full tank, the car feels like going to cheong.
when it is half tank, the car feels a bit sluggish.

i am still wondering why we need 3 tank of 92 to feel the power loss...
could it be that after 3 tank, the tank is all purely RON92?
but even first tank is already majority RON92 and some leftovers of RON95.
can the leftovers be so powerful?

i will monitor my FC.

i tot only i felt that, is it ecu auto sense and dont let you use up petrol too much?

caltex 95 runs out very fast for me, but got starcard 16% discount,
esso 95 only average, but esso points easier to earn,
shell 95 best balance so far, nearest my home,
m'sia shell even longer lasting!

got a pump attendant told me dat actually esso 5000 is leaded fuel, its more for those old car & m/cycles to pump as some of the vehicles requires leaded petrol. But he also say unleaded vehs can pump leaded oil but leaded cars must pump only leaded petrol if not car will spoil...

Wonder how true, but i remember clearly that 10 yrs back when i was drivin Datsun 100A the only kiosk that sells leaded petrol is ExxonMobil and i remember its the red color pump just the same as esso 5000 now so maybe wat he says is true ba

The uncle talk BS lah. Singapore long time ago phase out leaded petrol liao, for our environment. Even if you wanna pump leaded petrol also cannot, their pump head is bigger, so it won't fit into the hole.

Unless you use a funnel... JKJK. :bleh:

on my 2nd full tank of 92 now....
on last run....mileage was actually on par when i was using 95....13.5-14km/l...
i think could have been better....but i recalled having the engine on idle while waiting in the car a few times tat time...
me will still keep at 92....cheaper...no knocking sound....so far so good....hope to get better...
