hi...

i have been driving a latio for the past 7 months... things were so far so good... for a normal car.... except that the pickup speed abit slow... but of course.... it is a 1498cc car afterall ... what to expect. Other than that, everything is fine for me in terms of spacious and reliability... ...

But when i see the prices nowadays, nissan cars hardly give any value for monies compared to korean car. the price gap is simply too big....  i recall just before the recession, a normal latio was priced between 58K to 60K (even for the new 2009 facelift)... now it had only dropped to 55000 to 56000. Comparatively, hyundai avante cost $54K during pre-recession times and now about $45K...

of course, the currency movements played a major role.. but in reality, nissan is pricing itself out of the marker..  even my friend bought a korean car recently...

Before recession, the latio has a low OMV and high COE but now it is high OMV and low COE - that explains y the price never tumble.

I am not writing with the intention to discourage anyone from buying a nissan or discredit nissan. I believe that nissan cars are comfortable and reliable, it should have made it widely affordable to many people out there by pricing it more competitively in this current economic turmoil... that's all and not to price itself out.

Slow pick-up when moving off can be minimised if you 'understand' your car well.

What the stock sparks given by TCM so solid ah? I didn't know coz my car is 2 years old, and everytime i crank engine, it takes about 2.5 to 3 'coughs' to start the engine. My previous ride is so much faster. So i thought the sparks going to kaput liao...

I changed my batteries some 3 weeks ago. It is a new battery!

About the Latio Intelligent key, i can only say it is quite intelligent. Leave the I-key in yr pocket and just do everything as per normal. Too far away, the car cant be unlocked or u cant turn the knob to start engine.

One thing i never try though, is that when i am in the car, and i central-lock the whole car from inside, someone from outside press the black button dunno can unlock a not.

1) Not sure what that is...

2) If I'm not wrong, for the FL you can't tell because both the 4AT and CVT variants now come factory-fitted with fog lamps.

3) 13++ km/l on CVT. Not happy with the FC because my old Corolla 1.5 4AT was doing 14+.

erm how to ensure e car is locked when i pump petrol? this ikey is puzzling. yet at the same time if i want to know that when i wan to open the boot i can.

boot and pump petrol distance is quite similar hmmmm

I like Latio's interior spaciousness best.

But at $55,000 for Latio 4 speed auto now, I'd rather get Hyundai Avante which is even more spacious with a longer wheelbase, selling at only $41,500. Savings of $13,500 compared to Latio, and is also a newer model than Latio.

Thanks dude. I am outside just now but forgot to try. It is good that it cannot be unlocked outside if not it will really be dangerous.

Cerato Forte even newer model. . . Slurps cant resist it, would have consider this car but wasted its made by koreans, still phobia of kimchi rides.

Kia Cerato Forte is too heavy for a 1.6l car, topping the scales at 1326kg. Just think of Hyundai Matrix weight and its thirsty engine, as well as the 1.6l 1340kg Suzuki APV notorious for its 8km/l fuel consumption.

Cerato Forte, at 1326kg is 154kg heavier than the 1172kg Avante with whom it shares identical engines, except for a minor tweak. How economical can such a heavy car get?
