HAHA... not bad lar.
Korean cars are slowly making their mark. But oh well..

IMHO, to me, FC is very subjective. Driving pattern plays a part.

Also, you can pay so much for a car, what is that few dollars more per tank? Just to save that few dollars and you drive slowly and become a SLAVE to your car.

You are the driver, You are in command, you call the shots. (:

You only become a slave when the car makes you do things you don't like. If you enjoy saving fuel, saving money and saving mother earth, than hypermiling will be fun for you.

If not, to each their own!

How to clock such high km/l in congested areas? Sometimes I see the figure of others, calculate my own, then wonder why. Even if I drive at rpm max 2.2k, I can't achieve that... only in NSH, I can rev all I want and get good FC.

I would say such a competition with a mix of city and highway driving is much better than Nissan's NSH challenge. Maintaining throttle position for a few hundred km is easy, but city driving really tests your techniques. The results will differ greatly among competitors. Those who know their cars well, efficient acceleration, cruising distance, traffic lights timing, they will definitely have the advantage.

will be good to know the figures for "urban cycle" and "extra-urban cycle" and also the actual "city" and "highway" driving

see http://www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk/information/fuel-consumption-testing-scheme.asp for test procedures

read some interesting comments in this forum :

http://www.motortrader.com.my/asp/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28691&whichpage=1

on page 4, there is a comment by one of the forummers who had also participated in the competition :

"I actually saw how the eventual winners of the 1.8 livina with the 56.5831 km/l filled up. They started filling at 3pm all the way until 5pm! (2 hours)Under the bloody hot sun! Also, they jacked up the right side of the mpv to fill up to the brim, along with rocking the car sideways interminently between maximum top ups. I didn't see any other competitors go to those extremes."

seems that there was also a controvesy in a previous Shell FC challenge held in Singapore, but that is another story .....
