Title: 40K servicing
Post by: starushz on May 19, 2009, 12:10:42 AM
Hi guys,
I was thinking to do my 40K servicing at autosavers.
What actually needs to be done at 40K?
Heard from TCM need to change the belt blah blah....
if change at autosavers do I need to tell them to change or will they automatic follow TCM method and change all that is neccesary?

I did my at Autosavers Ubi, they will service according to the Nissan list but will call you to inform if its ok to proceed to change.

I had long given up servicing at TCM. Not sure if the rest of the bros encountered this,

- Send in car to check on Steering coupling. Aircon set at 26C
- Car return with aircon set at 18C and additional 4K on the mileage
- Tell them not to wash engine bay, but return with engine bay wet,wet
- Tell them not to wash car but return with car wash and wet driver side mat
- Tell them not to replace wiper (new ones), they replaced and throw away.

What is the estimated charges for 40K servicing?  After change this & that?
I find autosaver items (eg.  battery, tires, air filter, etc.) more exp than outside...

Go to www.autosaver.com.sg to check it out.
Get battery, tyres, air filters outside, esp the aircon filter, which they will charge $60, outside.
You will get more bang per $

Brake pads these kinda stuff better to let them replace, they use OEM pads. Unless you want performance ones of course. I kena tok by them before also, air filter, AC filter, wiper. All overpriced.

Bro please update after you do your servicing, I'm going soon as well.  :D

For me, I am getting,

a) Engine air filter, approx at $15
b) Enginer oil filter, at $5.5
c) Aircon filter, at $18 (not necessarily for every servicing)
d) Wiper Blade (Bosch) $15 per pair
e) Enginer oil

All filters can be bought at Bendemeer road, two shops away from H-tyres. Was recommended by Bro IAGREE.

Yes, for brake pad, I did get them replace at Autosavers but cost on the high side, $135 for disc and $125 for drum.

Hope these helps

Thks for sharing the list!  Engine oil filter & wiper blade I thot is included FOC? Autosaver wiper balde losy though, cant last 20K.
What is the name of shop?  Is it 2 shops before H-tyres?  Becos if I remember correctly H-tyres is already near the end of the row of shops.

Sorry, I meant 4km. Did it at Ubi

Think the additional 4km is reasonable as mine also about the same when requested for steering coupling change, they need to test drive to ensure it working condition and nothing loose.

Sorry can't remember but address is 50 Bendemeer Road. The brand of the EO filter is Mirco.

EO filter rebate $10.50, wiper blade rebate at $22 from Autosavers. If you join the AS membership, you will get another 15% dis on the servicing.

Noted with thanks.
I had went to Ubi TCM for checks on the SC but in the end, they never change as the SA told me they just tighten the assembly only. Replacement would cost $400++

Not satisfied with the answers, I called up TCM@ LokYang and the SA told me, there is no need to change the SC as there is no safety issues with it :confused1:

Can any bros advice if this is true?

Thanks!

Read the TCM servicing schdule and it indicates that they changed the drain plug wasger. Does Autosaver changed the drain plug washer?

This steering coupling thing to me is a design flaw to me, more prone to spoil compared to other cars? Advised by the SA at TCM is that there is no safety issue with it but u have to bear with the 'tok-tok' sound when doing U turn or parking, full-locking the steering.

Was advised by others that the steering coupling defective because we often turn the steering when car is not moving (i dun understand the rationale behind it though). I will bang table at TCM telling them that this is obviously design problem. So many ppl get it changed in such short period of time! Try to change it for free.

Mine is coming 4 year old soon, so no warranty. :(
Since, there is no safety issue, I will just bear with the tok -tok sound

Thks!  Seems can save quite alot by buying the items ourselves and get them installed at Autosaver.  mechanic wont give u "black face"?

Anyway, for those items u mentioned, the shop knows what are those that fit Latio?

The mechanic won't give u "black face" but the boss will.  ;D
If the mechanic = boss, then u die  ;D

Just joking la, since they allow you to bring the parts in, that means they can accept it. If not they will put up signboard like the coffee shop - "Outside food and drink are not allowed"  :bleh:
They still charge you labour for change of parts. So it's not FOC hor.

Hmm, no reaction from the mechanics at Autosavers, Ubi and he is very friendly too. While, he at work on my Latio, I kapo here and there, ask ******** questions and he patiently explain them to me.

Yes, just tell them that you are buying filters for Latio, but for wiper, you need to get them elsewhere. I got my at Liang Shiong, http://www.liansiong.com/. I think $15 for a pair of Bosch wiper.
