Post by: xLiteSpeedx on August 30, 2009, 10:45:48 PM
Hi everyone! i need some help!
i'm actually very interested in getting a 2 year old latio and would really ask for all of your opinions in terms of fuel consumption and space in latio, compared to other cars of this category! anyone can help?

Fuel consumption = Very good. I am getting an average of 16km/litre.

Space = Personally, I feel that the interior of the car is very spacious.

Hi Bro, I went to TC & tested the Slyphy (1.5L). Its auto & specs wise, its almost same as Latio Premium. Leg space is longer than Latio.
Price wise, Latio is only S$00 cheaper. Given the small price differences, I would pick the Sylphy instead of a Latio now.

but how is sylphy's fuel consumption? i've been hearing about very bad FC for all Nissan models other than Latio?

My fuel consumption is 11.5 km per litre - city driving 80%.

Good points - comfortable, spacious inside, good to drive, quiet & keyless, servicing quite cheap

No good pts - no power (expected for 1.5l), expensive compared to other similar range cars

i tink the only setback for latio is only the power..

Fc @ 10-11km/l
Stock tyres ( J50 Toyos )
Tyre pressure @ 260kpa for all 4

no idea why my fc...   :confused1:

Dun forget, Latio Premium has CVT while 1.5 Sylphy is 4AT. Depending on your driving style n your taste, this could be a deal breaker... For me, i fell in love with the CVT after testing driving both so i chose the Latio.

Most likely driving habits / pattern (assuming no other mechanical troubles.) I have a 3+ yr old Latio and its does not even have any extras like volt stab, magnetizers etc... and still getting 14km/l.

If members here said stock Latio lack power, then Slyphy1.5 (60kg more) with same engine will be worst. If you can, go for 2.0L Slyphy, else Latio is better if you only comapre the two nissan model. FL latio pickup is better than pre FL latio. With some simple and legal mod most member here can accept the "new" pickup.

Ask what you want most. If it is Speed and Power then you should compare more model. Most people buy latio because of its space, smooth(gentle) Engine (less noise) and FC.

If you are have to buy 2nd hand car now, then no choise. $2 COE car owner is going to sell after 2~3 years also, you can expect their selling price is lower. every year you wait = >S$5000 of saving.

ya i agree on your statement...the FC all depend on your foot pattern on acceleration..it being 3.5 yrs after owning my latio..still good and strong and hope to get a good muffler to improve the pick up only. Other then that, I have no regret buying it.  My next car might still be Nissan if Vit M permit... :bleh:

Another con about Nissan is the aircon besides the power, find that not really cold and powerful as compared to Toyota. The rest am happy about it especially the keyless. So my next car keyless is my first priority.  :D

Bro

Maybe you should try to ask "Why should I NOT buy a Latio" answer you get will help you look at the car quite differently

Agreed! I sat in my colleague's altis, the aircon was really powerful man, at 26 degC was already cold, and also very silent at blower setting No 2 or 3, not like ours very noisy.

For the pro, I actually like latio's high profile seat, and of course the interior engine noise and comfort.

Yep, maybe our blower is also quite powerful that why we hear the wind gushing out that make it noisy when we set to blower 3 and above.

i set to 1 fan speed at 18C.
quiet and cold.

earlier version of dashboard (NO knobs, only press buttons  ::)), space and cvt are what attracted me.

HU knobs or the aircond knobs :confused1:  I like wood like panel, the nice arm rest, the smooth drive of CVT, the many compartment design, the seat height from the ground is just nice. Two adult at rear is very comfortable with the rear arm rest down.

It will be prefect for me if TCM have 1.8L version for Latio.

If have 1.8L version for Latio I think I confirm will buy. Dont need to even compare with a 1.8L Altis.... :devil2:

The bros here have mentioned most of the points le..   ;D

You buy this car for:

1) the interior - finishing and amount of space

2) engine is smooth. CVT makes it even smoother with no cog swapping.

3) fuel consumption - 12 to 14km/l

You don't buy it for:

1) handling - at stock it's only average

2) power - hey it's your typical 1.5.

Some may not like it because it is tall and the seat height is higher compared to other cars.

Factory brakes and balance could be better but I guess you can't go much further with stock front/rear disc/drum anyway.

Aircon is okay - I leave it at 23 with fan speed at 2.

As All the Lations , young & old , summed up the + & - .... GO FOR IT... u will never regret.

IT'S MADE IN JEPUN... that's more important, if u emphasize on workmanship.

tats normal for some defects due to manufacturers found out defective lots from the electronics output.
At least they have the corporate social responsibility to do recall..
here i suppose we are referring to the worksmanship and some other quality comparisons..

if you have old folks with weak knee, Latio rear door design and the seat height is the best you can find within the same cat.

Seriously, no such thing as a perfect product. Everything has it's pros & cons. i even saw a million dollar lambo breakdown at Novena... At the end of the day, you just have to decide which car suits your needs best. We can only share with you the pros & cons of Latio as we drive this car.

For me, i love my Latio!

Other cars with high rear seat design for easy entry and exit include previous moel Kia Cerato, Suzuki APV / SX4, G9 Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sylphy, Perodua kenari, Opel Zafira / Astra, Ssangyong Actyon, VW Passat, BMW 7 Series, and Zotye Trex (those that I have sat in).

like that can include all taxi model liao.

For SUzuki, closest is Liana. If can, I swap my Latio for BMW 7 series, but you know the $$$ difference right?
