Hi all, I really need help here. I just bought a Nov 2005 Latio 1.5A. Questions:
1. I pumped full tank SPC 95 but could only do 380+km! Thats very little right?
2. Whats the fuel tank capacity?
3. Is it true that other brands of fuel will help with fuel efficiency?
Thanks!
-
1. Check your tyres pressure
2. Check if the OD is activated
3. How heavy footed are you
Fuel tank size is 45 litres and normally lights up at about 38 litres. With 38 litres of petrol, I am able to achieve 500-520km (80% highway / 20% city).
-
if i may add on,
check the air filter if it is dirty
-
Just did tyres, 225 for both tyres. As for OD, how do i check it? please help as I am really new to Latio. I'm pretty lightfooted though, travel about 70-80 on highway.

just did 60,000 km servicing yesterday, changed Air Filter liao. will continue to observe some more and see how it goes. Thanks!

If the OD is activated, it will be lighted up in your dashboard. As for the tyres, I am at 240kpa both front and back

mazha,
Have you tried other brands of petrol?
SPC is known to give poor mileage.
-
try going for Caltex... got discount for safra members or OCBC CC users. The techron they have inside can help u clean the engine a bit.
I changed to Caltex and it gave better FC. :D
-
I ever tried all brands of petrol(SPC, Mobil, Caltex, now using Shell), I doubt it will make so much difference. I also can travel till at least 500km then top up 37litres+/-, 380km a bit on the low side considering you light footed. Mine is CVT but dun think will differ so much from 4AT.
-
What about the tyre size ? Has the previous owner upgrade to 16" rims ? It would be about 10% lower than a 15" size.
-
I will most probably go for Shell cuz my company got corporate card. Gives us 15% discount. Not bad leh.

Shell has this new Fuelsave fuel which it claims can help motorists save UP TO 1 litre for every full 50 litres tank of petrol.
"UP TO" means the maximum it can save is 1 litre.
So it may save you 200ml, 400ml, or just 100ml of petrol.

Might be useful if you provide more info:
1. How many years have you been driving?
2. What is your travelling pattern? Eg. 70% highway 30% city?
3. How many liters of petrol did you fill when you said you travelled 380km?
Do you fill petrol yourself or let petrol station uncle do it?
How many tanks did you monitor?
4. What is your driving style?
Eg. always redline on pickup? 120kmh or 80kmh on expressway? Etc
5. Typical carrying load? Eg. always in the car alone, always with 5 adults on board? Etc
6. Do you have a habit of waiting in the car?
Eg. need to pick up GF/wife and have to wait in the car with engine/aircon on?
-
Note that the most important factor in your FC is as follow (I also driving an 2005 model Latio Hatch CVT)
1. Road Condition - if you drive mainly on Highway without slow Traffic (>80%) (i.e. non peak hours) the FC will be very good at around 12 to 13 + km/lr. But if you are always driving in condition where there is lots of traffic light (start-stopped) or slow traffic (< 60km/h), the FC will not be very good ... at most 11 to 12km/l
2. Foot pressure ... this definitely determine the most. If I am light footed ... I will be at 12+ to near 13 (never reach 14 before as my light could still means heavier to other folks).... but most of the time... impatient driver like me are getting near 10 to max 11.
3. Weather condition - Hot weather I found will consume more fuel... so if you mainly driving in the middle of the day or hot sunny day .. it just consume more due to air-flow, air-conditioning and etc.
So far ... Latio FC can varies from as low as 9km/l to as high as 14km/l ++ as per recorded from our member in the forum.
Thanks

Been driving for about a year. Very light footed. 40%highway - 60% city. Latest fuel top up: 38.5L after travelling 420km. So its about 10.9km. Still topped up SPC 95. Will continue to monitor one more tank and then see how its improving.

I had began to accept the variance for FC of the Latio is alot. In manufacturing, all factors have a variance from nominal value, and FC seems to varies alot from car to car.. Mine, also not good, around 11+ km/l

Yep, different types of petrol won't affect much, it depends on your driving style, condition of your car and mods.

Seriously ... variance not pertaining to only Latio ... I believe all car similar...
11km/l is common for me but I do know my driving style affect it greatly. Even Honda Fit/Jazz has big variance....

From the look ... your 40% highway is low to achieve good FC. It means in most of the time driving in City, you have a lot of stop/start and max 60km/hr.
The optimal speed for good FC is 80km/hr constant for at least 70% to 80% of the time. It reminds me in the previous forum, there is also a member complaining about poor FC but later we found that it is poor because he travel almost 90% of the time in short distance (< 10 to 15 min drive to work) and no more than 60km/hr. Such condition is never optimal for FC consumption, if you look at the recent Nissan Frugal challenge... the winner is driving around 80km/hr, light load without Air-Con!!!! to achieve around 28km/l for Latio. But we know we dont travel in such condition.
So ... in mainly city driving... 10 to 11km/l is a good number. Mainly smooth highway travel .. 13 to 14 @ 80km constant is good.
Why I say only 13 to 14 @ 80km/hr is good? cause if one is driving above 100 and 110km/hr ... the FC will dropped down to close 11... in fact will be between 11 to 12.
Please also know that pumping will also determine the variance. One pump uncle may squeeze extra 1 to nearly 2 litre of petrol after click, but another could squeeze a little or not at all. I found that after the pump stopped by itself, typically you still can potentially squeeze up to 2 litre in Esso Station.
Overall Latio FC is good in its category.
Cheers ...

hmmm after reading your post,..now I dont feel so bad abt getting 10-11km/l,..coz normal driving pattern, my wife and I seldom go to expressways,..mainly Ubi to siglap then back to Ubi,..but mileage during trips up north are amazing for this car,.. once drove up with a santa fe and another with a matrix,... both of them need to top up more times than this humble latio...
-
I have tried before ... full tank up to melaka and back with just around RM20 buck top up along the way with total 2 person inclusive driver in the car. If I dont drive within Melaka Town, I think full tank can allow me to drive to and fro of melaka town.
Full tank all the way to KL last toll exit with 4 full adult in may this year plus I am driving at around 120km/hr to 140km/hr.... paiseh I cannot possible maintain 80km/hr to 100 or else I will be falling asleep.
So ..I must say the FC is good.

This is the latest: I'm now at 1/2 tank, and have already travelled 252km. Amazing! Hope it stays this way!

tried going at 80km/hr today to work.
Amazing you can feel that there is a decrease in foot pressure as soon as it hits 80km/hr. Other than this optimum speed, the other foot pressures has to be increased slightly or quite a bit to attain that speed.
surprisingly i did not play with this previously. After trying, it really shows that the 80km/hr really helps in FC considering that i dun have to press so hard on pedal... heh heh :D

latest full tank pump: 13.1km/l!
But this morning when i went to top up and decided to try with SPC92, to my shock, i hit quarter tank after 60km! Is SPC 92 so bad????

i also dun like grade 2000, feels tat its underpower thus making me more heavy footed, but then maybe its just me.
just finished 1 tank of the new shell fuel-saving petrol, milage same leh, no difference :out:

Agreed. FC of Latio improves with more % of hwy travel, even if traveling at non-efficient speed. I did Port Dickson, 320km one way at 110km/h on 22L, car fully loaded w/ 4 adults & 3 kids (!!) That's 14.5km/L. Not too bad

opc sedan latio cvt............always half tank pump.....always 230km acheive at half point.dun drive much during the weekdays unless got errands 2 run or people 2 send....

Dear all,
After a month plus of trying and pumping, i've done my sums and conclusion.
using spc92, i will always hit between 12.2-12.5km/l. using spc95, i will always hit 13-13.5km/l. I have not tried other petrol yet but dun think i will try anymore, am very happy with spc95 (cheap and 13km is not bad!)

Maybe you can achieved 14-14.5km/l with SPC98 leh.
-
I try Ron 98 and there's no much different in fuel saving; except that the engine rev. smoother, quieter and pick up faster.
It is still your right foot that matter most.

agreed.
I achieved 13.8km/l standard for RON92.
after i changed to 98, the rev is smoother, pick up is definitely very much faster and quieter.
But because of this, my right foot itchy go down a bit more. shiok mah. at the cost of FC.
Now is 12.4km/l.
My idea about RON98
Shiok, expensive. Drive like a man, spend like a woman.
want to save? don't drive.
want to drive? pay money
since pay money liao, pay a few more dollars lor.
heartache, but at least heartache until shiok.
Worst case scenario: heartache, still heartache.. cuz use RON92 liao MILEAGE STILL DROP!!!!

Will the FC goes down when it is due for servicing?
My past experience with Nissan Sunny was like, when freshly serviced, the FC is quite good. Or rather OK.
Then after crossing 5k-6k mark, the FC will be getting worse. Up to about 9+km/l when near 10k.
Is this problem only for Sunny? or is it the Fastflo engine oil?
Does Latio behave this way as well?
-
hi Ben5266,
Its the non-synthetic Engine oil which TCM provides as the free servicing.
It gets better when you reach 10k and switch to Synthetic Engine oil.
I was suffering about ave 10km/l until switch to Synthetic and fuel consumption improved to 12km/l.
-
This two months unable to monitor FC..hiaz
-
Road Condition plays important role in FC.
Last time, full tank at JB, all the way to Terengganu via eastcost route 3, speed around 100 km/h, with few stops, when I reached there, 700km+, still not light up, it works out FC >19km/L. :yehyeh:
But back to Singapore, FC always 11-12km/L.... :crycry:
-
hmm.. last sunday.. I drive from JB --> Vivocity --> JB... maintain within 1500rpm - 2000rpm... speed within 80-100km/h... I break my own record. I hit 16.73km/l with RON97... :D

IMO all cars FC will deterioriate as it is approaching the servicing due date. It is just a matter on how much.
Fastflo engine oil will affect FC also has it is using a thicker oil compared to you using your own preferred oil.
From my experience with Latio so far, your right foot and tire pressure has a larger impact on FC.
My 2 cents!

I change from Sunny to Latio. Drive Sunny for 3 years, FC gets worse as car age, whether just service or not. In NSHW not that bad, but SG roads, really can kpkb about petrol. Now bought a 2yr old latio, FC at least 11.8 km/l. Both cars use engine oil from TC. Does not notice a drop in FC when servicing date nears.
-
i can reach 270km to 290km for half tank.
it is better to use the calculations as follows:
mileage (kms) / no. of litres of petrol filled up

HI guys!! :bleh:
New latio kid reporting in.. Hope to get more guidance from all of u guys.
i'm driving a Nissan Latio Sport 1.5A, extronic CVT. Below are my car and driving states:
1. Foot pressure quite heavy; most of the time move off straight go to 2k RPM and above.
2. My wheel pressure for front is 34psi, and for rear is 31psi.
3. 65% highway, 35% city.
4. half tank mark, distance clock only 230km, full tank most of the time 440 to 450km hit reserve.
5. Air con always turn only to 25 or 24 degree.
6. Rim size, stock: 15inch.
7. Fuel used esso 95. (Tried shell fuel saver on 95 too. additional distance clock 20-40 km)
8. FC base on calculation is around 12.5km/l, this is base on fuel topup and distance clock. i monitor it for 2 months.
9. Lastly i'm still using half synthetic engine oil, going for my 5000km servicing next week to change it to fully synthetic engine oil. hope it will improve my FC too.
With regards of this topic. i juz have a few cent worth of advise although my driving experience is only going 3 months old. hope this will help all of us.
1. FC heavily depend on ur foot pressure to ur accelerator. (top priority)
2. Wheel pressure. (recommend to check and pump pressure everytime u go for refuelling)
3. Air-con temperature plays a part on the fuel consumption. But the Fan wont. (read from some articles, correct me if i'm wrong)
4. types of road travel.
5. Rim sizes.
6. there is few more items that play apart too. ( like air filter, whether engine due servicing)
I have gone thru an article that for CVT engine for latio, is good to maintain your rpm to 2.5k or more while constant driving. this is where you can see ur car starts to perform wonder fuel consumption. Can anyone advise me on this? is this truth?
Hope this help too.. my 1 cent advise nia. :crycry:
live a life to the fullest..

nice elaboration bro......mine weekend car....whole weeks 7days i tink i use the car 3 times nia.......always hit 230km at half tank mark.....i wunder if its good enuff anot ........most of the time light footed.always remember
STEP MORE DRINK MORE, STEP LESS DRINK LESS...........

How long does it take for you and your kaki to finish one Jug of beer?
How long does it take for you and your car to finish one tank of petrol?
if your FC is 13km/l, say you use 40L and travell 520km in total. The number make you feel good but deep down you did not enjoy it as much. So you don't care, just drive as you wish and hit 10km/l. To cover the same 520km distance, you have to pay extra $21 for petrol(say $1.75/l). That's just one jug of beer, but this jug can last for days if not weeks for your car.
you only live once, if you want to drink then just yammm sennng haha
ah hemm..... drink but dont drive :bleh:
-
I think Ying's rationale for fuel consumption is that you control the car and not the other way round.
Acceleration, rpm, etc... they are all controlled by you. Whether you want the car to really move fast and perform up to your standard is up to you as to whether you press in hard or not.
But if you are letting the fuel consumption take over your driving style, and then making life very difficult for you (e.g. slow pickup, letting tons of cars overtake u because you are slow), then you should really consider whether driving is suitable for you or not.
it is good that we monitor the FC of our car so that we know whether our car is cranking up or not. But if we overdo it and let the car determine our driving style, we will be suffering rather than enjoying the ride.
For me, i tried the fuel saving method for a tank and hit about 14.8km/l, 60%hw40%city. but not shiok!
- car no air con, hot
- cars overtake me (sian)
- cars high beam at me because i'm slow
- 80km/h at expressway. (3rd lane too fast, 2nd lane too slow)
Then I shifted my style back to heavy foot. FC drops to 12.4km/l
assuming full tank, total savings for fuel saving is $31.88.
- car with air con at 23 degrees (cooler ride)
- i overtake lots of cars who is jamming up the road now
- i dun high beam people. so i tail lor!
- Fast rides on expressways. sometimes go up to 120km/h. (some other lations here drive even faster than me)
with all that in exchange for a full tank, i will rather do it. $31.80 for 1.5weeks of good ride. Its worth every single penny. :)
-
Bro Nakshire, you are so right. I can't say it better than you do.
My whole tank usual FC is at best 10km/l across 3 weeks. Most of your FC is better than mine, I should be the one who worry the most. If I drive 80km/l on NSHW I am confident the same car can hit 15~16km/l. So getting good FC figure is not a problem but at what cost?
the marginal gain in Petrol cost is way too small compare to COE cost and car value lost. Owning a car should be happy things, don't let the small things ruin your mood.
Leave things as it is so long as no serious drop in FC for the same driving pattern. Unless fine tuning the car to gain better FC make you happier than driving the car. Do what ever make you happier : FIX IT or LEAVE IT. Cheers and have a nice weekend
-
hmm.. i found.. if i want to archive above 14km/l... I just need to maintain 1 things.
1st is the RPM. You can heavy foot abit (but not OVER 3000RPM) at initial stage but after your car speed >60km/h, you should maintain it between 1500RPM and 2000RPM
With 2000RPM on road, our latio will hit around 100km/h liao (qualified to get Traffic ticket in Singapore).. :D
I don't mind to be turtle on road (I hope to be slow & safe driver). Many lation drive more faster than me (especially that pretty lady who speak loud:devil2:)
My driving pattern..
1. I think mostly I drive at Highway but sometime stuck inside heavy traffic jam. :D
2. I use stock 15 rim and I don't remember when my last time go and check my car's tyre pressure.
3. I prefer to use RON97 petrol and 100% sync engine oil.
4. I set Aircon temperature fix at 26 (day/night) with Auto Mode.
My own record
1. FC:
Worst: 11++km/l
Best: 16.73km/l (that's last sunday)
Happen: >350km with half-tank when trip north

1. FC:
Worst: 11++km/l
Best: 16.73km/l (that's last sunday)
Happen: >350km with half-tank when trip north
26degree... thats room temperature!! Not hot meh?

Fully agree to what ying & nakshire mention.
Dun let the FC control u over too much. monitoring of FC is juz to allow u to monitor your car performance on fuel. unless u encounter a drastic drop like noone else then mayb u can highlight to your SE or dun to special situation.
if not no matter ur FC range from 10km/l to 14km/l u still will be driving this car of yours. So juz enjoy ur car ride lor.
my driving patter on highway most of the time at lane 1. if can always maintain 110km/h or 120km/l :devil2:
guess i'm quite a heavy footer most of the time. :out:
And i on my aircon auto to 25 degree (day/night)
but still maintain my FC quite constant at 12.5km/l
but like what Hwlee said maintain it between 1.5k rpm and 2k rpm. is that truth?
i read thru an article it said initial move off already then the FC improve by maintain 2.5k RPM. anyone to highlighten me this point. :confused1: :confused1:

26degree... thats room temperature!! Not hot meh?
26 degree is just nice weather for me. Last night I turn to 27 degree as TOO cold. :bleh:
I will turn to 24 degree only if behind got passenger.
In fact, I totally agree what ying & nakshire mention on FC issue. what Mr_chr|s saids also true. We records down the FC is to monitor the car performance.
No matter your FC is 11km/l or >16km/l, it still your car at this moment.
It like issue of currency exchange rate. This stall give you a rate SGD1=RM2.41..that stall give you a rate SGD1=RM2.42... if you just going to exchange for SGD100, the different is really "small". But if you going to exchange for SGD100,000...you also just got SGD1,000 different mah (which someone will think it is "small" as well).
p/s: to Mr_chr|s, most of the cars in market will have best FC if we drive in range of 80km/h-90km/h consistently (you can go and check those car advertisement which mention about their BEST fc). Different car got different range of RPM while it reach 80km/h-90km/h. As I know, mostly old car (i mean Engine design) take around 2500RPM to reach 80-90km/h and mostly new car with new engine (especially VTEC, VVT-i, MiVec..etc) take below 2000RPM to reach 80-90km/h. That's why mostly new car can save more petrol instead of old car.
In fact, RPM can not be a reference to FC. It is matter of how fast you can drive "consistently". that's why driving at HW got better FC than driving in City (but if HW is jam, both FC should be similar)
I remember last time when I drive my old car, i got monitor my FC with the speed different. My ex-car take 2500RPM to reach 80-90km/h. If i don't consistently maintain around 2500rpm, I will lost extra 100km with full tank while driving at KL area (which everywhere is SUPER jam).

thks bro for clearing my doubts.
cheers

Yesterday i run 132.60km...pump 8.111L of petrol...that's 16.35km/l for this week. :D

Yesterday i run 132.60km...pump 8.111L of petrol...that's 16.35km/l for this week. :D
cuz yesterday you pump first knob then stop.
today pump first knob, then pump again, pump again, then shake the car, then pump again.
that makes it 16.35

that's sound too technical for me...my math not such good leh, bro.
I normally pump petrol till I saw it "almost" flood out from the fuel hole, where I dun think possible to fill more, then i stop..all day same :D
I scared shake my car for just extra 1L of petrol..will spoiled my suspension nia...
-
ya...
really wonder why some drivers hump on their cars in msia.
-
cos their suspension is good brand mah... you sit inside, not even feel shaking one... :bleh:
-
nowonder u pple can get fc like 14-16...KNS fill petrol until like that of coz sure good fc la...
I normally fill till the pump auto stop then round the liters to the nearest full digit liters.
Got one time a PRC attendant filling my car, which I expect abt 34L then end up with 38L, that tank gave me FC of 14, (somemore that tank i stuck in jam at AYE for almost an hr) so bey chun wan some pple here top up petrol
Our car ave 12.5 - 13.5 si beh ho already, considering 50% city drive 50% HW

err... different pump got different setting for auto stop..where got chun leh?? :glare: :bleh:

im gona go try out tis product from usa.....add into engine oil 1......plus valve cleaners n green oil for the petrol tank , if after 3 tanks of petrol got increase in mileage i will say my project is a sucess, will post again after i add those in the 1st tank .project will commence in a weeks time....normally my half tank is 230.....i will update here after 1st tank ok...peace

true to some extend, the thing that stops the valve is call pre-check valve ( i think) it works by having opposing gas pressure preset on the device, so as the volume builds up, the opposing pressure increases until such that it will release the catch on the lever.
after some wear and tear some valve release are less sensitive than others. then again my opinion is the difference is negligible, but the pressure at which the pump is pumping petrol would play apart, however as a petroleum company cash critical equipment, I would presume such pressure should be industrial calibrated standard.

hmm... too technical... not understand as I am not from engineering one :D...
but, FC is measure based on how many KM your ride have been run then divides it with how many liter of petrol you re-fill it back to your car fuel tank, right? :confused1:
So, it is not possible that your ride's FC will be good if your pump it till for extra 2 Liters...correct me if i am wrong. :D
so, even you calculate your FC based on fuel indicator's light up then pump 20 liter of petrol...also got chance your fuel indicator's light sensor spoiled, right? i don't believe those sensor got not fault tolerance :bleh:..

but hor , reali is the way ppl fill up tank meh??u should calculate wats reflected on the pump screen....like erm.....example its shown u top up 30 litres then u check back ur car how far has it travelled......subsequently 4 the nex tank .then u agar agar u should noe ur average consumption.use the amount pump and the mileage in ur car divide it.get the figures then keep it 4 reference 4 the nx few tanks.....should be average out liao lor.....n rememver driving patterns like heavy or light footed drivers.....kinda traffics??light heavy , highway smetink like tat....also mus come into consideration....a few tanks of the same envioroment u should be able 2 averageout....:) not the way u pump lah ...

Agree.. that's exactly what i meant...haha :D... no matter how the way you pump your car, just make sure that the tank is refilled at the same level that you re-filled previously. I don't understand why jliow thinks pump extra few liter will bring UP the FC.. if your car run 300km now and your FC will be nice is you re-filled with 20liter of petrol (around 15km/l) rather than 21liter of petrol(14.29km/l)...not math expert...but don't hesitate to correct me if my logic is wrong. ;)
but how to calculate the traffic style? mostly the time i spent 60 minutes on highway ..but stucked in the causeway is about 30-45 minutes... the about 30-45mins on city drive (where can only drive between 40-70km/h)... nakshire, time to show your math on this... :devil2:
thats one of the way to bring down std deviation. :p
Wau...so technical...make me feel dizzy liao...headache...

yeah trying to break down everytink into easier calculation 4 the rest......if wana make it more simpler......average out by 3 to 4 full tanks.......drive ur own style heavy or light.....note it down, heavy or light traffices note it down on individual tanks...remember all tanks of fuel drive till red light comes on 4 the reserve....REMEMBER IF U REACH E, DUN STRAY AWAY FROM PETROL KIOSK.i agar red light on u still got 20km or more, dun push ur luck ok.red light on go petrol kiosk straight.pump it up check ur mileage n n how much petrol pumped in....take note.nx tank do the same red light pump , tis time pump same amount of fuel. then i guess easily work out the maths liao....my maths also no good lol paiseh.of course light traffic n a lighter right foot gives u more mielage ahahaha.oh yah , AMOUNT OF PASSENGERS ALSO LAH, miss tis 1 out.the amount of passengers u carry everytime take note of tat 2...i will be easier if mostly car wif u onli.easy 2 monitor, more weight more fuel 2 move.....especialy in heavy traffics
-
oh i go read up liao , got ppl try 60km wif the red light on lol
hardcore.....but whoever wana averageout their fc just stick to red light on go pump , nx few tank also same amount of petrol can liao

hmm.. sound so troublesome... aiya, just enjoy to drive, don't be so calculative lah...
even your FC is 11km/l..or 16km/l...our latio full tank only 50L... so, full tank only differential by 250km (your ride can run 800km if FC is 16km/l; 550km/l if FC is 11km/l) only mah... if measure by distance run... just one trip from JB to Melaka mah... not much save leh..
-

This methods, actually can have good FC as according to some fuel saving tips. put your tank always half-tank full instead of full tank. but i can not do that way...due to driving out from Singapore must contains 3/4 of fuel :crycry:
-
My Latio low fuel indicator comes up at 35Ltr at normally 360 to 380 km, that means reserve still got another 10 Ltr. My calculation of FC is based on mileage traveled against the last top up..so on an average most of the times I get about 11.5km/ltr. And i have also downgraded from Mobil/Esso 95 to 92 with no significant increase in fuel consumption or loss of power.

my full tank only 380km. But can only pump 36l , why is it so when our tank is 50l ?

our tank is 45 litres...

I think you always pump the minute the low fuel indicator lights up...normally it will light up at about 35ltr so that probably explains why you normally pump 36L and then your tank is full...
-
i realized...
the FC numbers i get fluctuates alot...
10, 10.4, 10.8, 11.4, 11.8, 12.4, 13.8, 14.1
average out = 11.8
okok lah, not bad. mai hiam buay pai. dun so geh gao on FC... i'll only get affected if i hit 8 or 9...
-
hmm.. guess i can chip in some few cent advise too.. hehe... :bleh:
its hard to constantly monitor ur FC weekly or every pump. no matter pumping of petrol till the tip or till the refilling guage stop. juz use the distance clocked and the amount petrol pump. should have an average of ur car FC.
But once again, even doing so, ur car FC still depend for that week (if monitoring weekly basis) hows ur mood affect ur foot. and dun forgot the numbers of passager u are taking for that week? and road condition?
but bottom line juz enjoy ur road.. dun let FC take over u.. if not juz spend MORE $$ to improve FC lor.. haha.. :devil2:
my 1 cent of advise.. no hard feeling.. :bleh: :bleh:
cheers.. :yehyeh:

Now I just look at the pump meter and speedo meter, if distance is more than 10x of petrol reading then ok. Dont need to compute the decimal point.
-
I see no point in cheating. I can get 15k/l on a low-side FULL tank (pump till trigger) and 15k/l on a squeeze FULL tank ( +2L after trigger) and consistent too on a cold fill ( pump car during cold weather and petrol tank is cold, +6L after trigger).
All above can span my mileage at 1/4 mark from 450km to 650km. Full tank can go 700km if i want.
Only thing changes for the fact u pump is the mileage u will get will increase gradually. FC remains same.

Looking at the number of feedbacks on poor FC despite the car being very stock and cultivating best practices shows this is something of a BS
not trying to incite or flame, but I am sure there will be some bros who will stood by my opinion
-
My Latio FC changes with different factors, but I have no problem to get same FC for the same condition. eg. pure City driving is always close to 10, maybe 9+. NSH to Melaka 130~140kmh can get 14+km/l, 90~110kmh can get 16+km/l. So imo my car is normal.
Test your FC for a long HW drive during offpeak if your FC for that segment is less than 13km/l then your car really got problem, else it is just the way you drive and the road condition.
-
for singapore driving, it is difficult to benchmark whether our petrol consumption is high or low unless u really try on HW.
I think for average:
1st 1/4 tank : 120km to 140km
2nd 1/4 tank: 220km to 240km
-

I would like to provide another opinion.....
When people "hump" their cars while pumping petrol in msia, its not because they want to "cheat" and get better mileage. Its
because the petrol there is cheap, so go all the way in liao, must ensure make their money "worth worth" as petrol in singapore
is expensive, so they hump their cars to pump that ~2 litres more to feel shiok. Maybe they are ignorant that their suspension
might be subjected to more wear and tear in the process. So i feel "humping" their cars while pumping petrol has got nothing to
do with FC.
-
ok i finally 1st time calculated my latio fc.....opc car.
13km per litre......hope mileage goes up after some project on car....hehehe
-
new record for myself today... 17.36km/l.. travel 164.60km with 9.48L of petrol... :D
what suprise myself is.. I actually drive >100km/h on SLE->TPE->Changi Airport... :w00t:
-
wow... fantastic!!
-
gonna try ecu resetting later. :bleh:
-
last week i went for my 5k servicing and asked TCM to reset the ECU to factory setting.
during acceleration it seems smoother.. will try out on new fuel tank!
