3mths old but whats the distance travelled already??? if more than 1k should be ok but dun ram your engine too much as its still running in...
-
now it is about 3kplus.
any concern in terms:
1.) safety?
2.) theft (on accessories like antenna, visor, etc) ?
bad experience during my previous trip as someone stole my antenna, so i was considering... :crycry: :crycry:
i think the advantages will be it will help to regulate the engine to run in, comfort, freedom of time... :yehyeh:

My ride's mileage is at about 13k and I have already done 3 trips.
Safety - stop only at major R&R and well-lite petrol kiosks.
Theft prevention - park at the open air car park in front of Genting Hotel ... I think you will need to pay RM12 to the car jockey for one-time entry.
-
Theft concern, sure have. It a risk you have to accept when you travel to malaysia. But so far so good, haven't encounter any problem yet.
As for Genting I'd always park at 1st world and on one occasion, outdoor themepark hotel.. So far ok. Both place have jagar at the carpark. But whether they sleeping or not, I can't tell.
-
just heard from my friend that some encounters that the emblem "latio" wordings was plucked out... anyone encounter this too?
my ride is with "latio" and "DSR" wordings...
-
one more concern...
understand that latio car does not have alarm...
(unlike toyota, etc)
Do i need to install alarm before driving up to Genting? :confused1: :confused1:
anyone has installed? how much does it cost? what are the functions?
-
What good is a alarm nowadays? Most people will ignore it.
Once I accidentally activate my alarm, while trying to start engine in one of the RnR. No one came, despite the alarm tripped several times. A couple of cleaners seating nearby just look on, while those dining outdoor just act as if nothing is happening

I think alarm no use, they will just tow your car away. Best practices so far i think is to park head-in with steering turned to one side and use steering wheel mechanical lock...

haha... u are rite! man
if they really wanna tow the car, they can do it...! :zipped: :zipped:

Since a few years ago i had stopped driving in. Cos i rethink and rethink, once your car is gone in m'sia, it is likely to be unrecoverable. And i am not rich, can't afford to pay the instalments with no car to drive, not financially ready to buy second car also... so it is like... if it happens, i am done for, just need to happen once.
Maybe driving in with a few friends (few cars) can consider...
-
Thanks! you are rite!
Still considering if to drive up.
have drove up twice and so far it is ok.
Latio cars does not perceive as expensive cars unlike those benz, lexus, etc...
Any more bros to suggest? ;)
-
If you are the kind to gamble overnight and may not have enough rest for the return journey, you may want to consider taking the coach for safety reason.

makes me think how safe singapore is.
we can even go back home without car doors locked.

Not every places there is dangerous. Johor and KL are the worst. Genting is one of the safest place, many police stationed there and they will patrol the car parks. Steal car there is not an easy task, why go all the way up there, must be plain ********. On the way down still have to pass by a guard house, extra risk. Make all the trouble there and steal a SG latio is also ********.
Those R&R are relatively safe, I've been there for countless time. Just don't drive into their city center. I even drive alone to genting once. On the way stop by at R&R, pump petrol, go toilet.
Driving when not enough sleep is far more dangerous.

Expresso,
Some considerations to prevent your car from being stolen:
1) Take out your car radio antena when it is parked and keep it.
2) Put a steering wheel lock
3) Put on a accelerator pdeal lock
4) Wheel clam one of your wheels
5) Remove wiper blades to prevent them from being stolen
6) Don't wash your car. Let it be as dirty and run down as possible
7) If you have baby faeces, leave some on the car bonnet, boot, door handles etc. so that your car is too smelly to attract thieves.
8) Leave some used tampons on your car too
9) Use chalk and draw lines on your entire car to make it look like it has been vandalised
If a car looks unattaractive, run down, smelly and dirty, it would not attract thieves.
I am not joking on the above points.

Hi clarence,
Thanks for the pointers!
but my ride is only 3 months...
after serious considerations, i decided not to drive up
probably wait till next year or the year after

Eventually you still need to drive up to Genting.
What difference does it make whether you are driving a 3 mth old car or a 3 yr old car?
It makes no difference to a car thief .
Anyway, Nissan Latio is not sought after by car thieves in Malaysia.

Wah, tampons and faceas, a bit extreme. I rather not drive up then. Haha!
Scali the thieves pose themselves as car washer, bring a pump and hose spray the car then ....
oops...

In MY, they steal luxury cars (Merc, BMW, Lexus) to export. For ordinary cars, they would usually strip them for parts or maybe use to commit crime.
Our Latio is quite safe because:
1. MY Latio is 1.6L or 1.8L and no CVT. Ours is 1.5L, so maybe parts are different and not suitable.
2. Our Latio is basically a very comfortable family cruiser and not too well known for its speeding ability (though some bros here may disagree :D). So I don't think they would want to pinch our Latio and use it to commit crime because it may not be able to outrun the police.
Having said that, I would rather let my car get stolen than to put sh*t and tampons all over the car. :out:

ahahahaa put hose on cars lol.....got bird ******** i kpkb liao loh!!!ahahahaha
