Anyone can explain to me exactly what is this Sparkbridge and is this good to have for a stock Latio 1.5L CVT?
-
Sorta grounding tho.
Response is much faster when you press on the accelerator. =)
In case you ask, yes I did installed.
-
gone thru alot of thread talking abt these. guess is a cheap mod that show great result from all the lation here.
i'm thinking to install these sparkbridge. but vypez kinda busy now.. juz called him on Wednesday.. he mention once he free he will make an another of sparkbridge meeting up again.
cheers
-
i'm gonna do CAI + grounding...
if sparkbridge gonna help, i may go for that too..
will spoil the car or not ah... i put so many dingdongs down there...
-
When is the next sparkbridge meeting? I just got my COE, will only be collecting my car in Dec.

nakshire, what CAI arh??
and ya gonna put grounding for which area?

Car COLD Air Intake. Its supposed to have better combustion since we are allowing more air flow into the engine.
that one i'm not sure which area also. Will be doing some photoshooting during the whole process and then let you guys see what was being made.
From what my friend said about these 2, they are supposed to increase your pick up capability. Of course, at an expense of a little bit more petrol. :p

oic.. okok.. thanks for the info.. so u gonna do open port for your air intake? BTW will be waiting for ur update on the grounding stuff u gonna do.. cheers..

Bro, is cold air intake or cool air intake.

yes, cold air intake, my apologies. heh

Met up with this guy, Alvin. He's really professional in his work and explained to me every single point that he does, even went down to details on the material of his stuff and the physics behind every single action he does. It clearly shows that this dude knows every single action he does and does not smoke me when I have any queries in his stuff.
Take a look at the CAI that he did for my car:

sorry for bad image quality cuz i forgot to bring camera along. Samsung i780 isn't really thhhattt good in photo taking though!
Air intake valve is taken out, and replaced by this high quality pipe that directs to the side, leading towards the bumper (do not have to remove bumper). Theoretically speaking, this system will allow cooler air to go into the combustion chamber. Cooler air = denser air. With higher density of air, combustion becomes easier and more effective. So FC will not really be affected unless we rev the engine.
Another thing I did was the 6 point grounding + voltage stabilizer. I only know how to picture it, but dunno how to explain. But my car pickup now is damn freaking reactive compared to last time. Super shiok. couldn't shoot where he put the grounding cuz its quite dark, all the photos turn out to be smurgy. Budden, all the contact points were done up properly.
Oh yes, sparkbridge. Do change them too.
Any kind soul willing to share on the theory of these 3 things?
1. grounding
2. stabilizer
3. sparkbridge
Total damage: $240
Damage breakdown:
CAI - $80
Grounding - $10 per point, 6 points $60
voltage stabilizer (12points) - $80
Sparkbridge - $20
My sparkbridge setup is those cheap cheap one. Dun expect a lot from this set up because it only increased 2V from it. Whats more, heard that too high a voltage for sparkbridges may cuz the plugs to melt and then servicing will kill your pocket after that.

so you are still using the stock air box & filter?
-
where is your original platic air intake? are you going to sell it?
-
yah still using the stock air box and filter... will there be any difference if i were to change it?
The original one is still in my boot, intending to bring back to my house storeroom to keep just in case i regret doing the mod. Ying, why you looking to buy the stock one?
-
where to do all these ? any good shop to recommend ?

Nice detail debrief Bro,
Btw do u have any picture on how the voltage stabilizer being done on ur car now? hmm.. so u recommend to go do up the 6-pin ground + voltage stabilizer and sparkbridge??
btw bro u staying around north area?? :devil2: :devil2:
Hehe.. if ya staying north area then mayb can meet up with u some time to take a look on ur car mod.. hehe.. :devil2: :devil2:
cheers

Bro, you can call up this guy Alvin stated in my post to get yours done. Duration is about 45mins. But I asked him a lot of questions, and he spent some time explaining to me... So total it took about 1.5hrs.
If you are not a physics guy, it may take longer for him to explain to u, because there are quite a lot of physics concepts there involved. If u never ask him, its just 45mins. :)

Haha chris, not very detailed lah.. :zipped:
Yeah I can go to my car tomorrow and get a shot up for you to see. (prolly at night)
You can choose to do it one by one though, if you do it the way i did it, you may not know which mod will contribute more to your ride's comfort (can be quite troublesome if anything goes wrong).
I stay at toa payoh central. Hehe, of course, you can come my place to see the car... no problem man! After that can jio some more people for coffee also can! :yehyeh:
-
Will it void warranty ?
-
Will it void warranty ?
nope. There are no drillings or whatsoever. Whats more its LTA friendly. No issues here.
-

I want to cut it for some experiment.

will awaiting for the photos man. let me see my working schedule. then arrange with u to go see ur beauti. :devil2:

woot! what experiment?

yah still using the stock air box and filter... will there be any difference if i were to change it?
ofcoz got diff, stock paper filter blocking more air from flowing thru, try change to stainless steel filter to allow more air gets in to your throttle. by changing the air ram makes no different de.

Hmmm, just a qn:
If i were to do such configuration, allowing more air for combustion does it mean that it will increase FC also?
-
depends. more air, fuel burn better, by right, sld save abit of fuel & better FC, by left... you ram too much to gain power, lost FC lor.

swee, i like ur way of saying it.
I'm right footer then. hahaha

i'm wondering....wher does ur CAI piping facing? down on the road beside ur tyre? or somewher else? if its raining will it suck up the water from the ground? if its somewher further up in our engine compartment...isn't it sucking in the engine's hot air? :confused1:
-
thats something that i was asking him also... i saw him squeezing all the way downwards. so i asked him won't it suck up all the water during rainy days... he say wun, cuz its quite high.
And also, its not at the engine there, there is a small gap behind the headlight compartment. So he squeezed the pipe there instead.

you try to suck water from a cup using 1 inch big straw, see whether you can drink the water or not. not to mention he is using a 3" long hose pipe. ^^ simple theory.

guess engine air suction will be quite strong? :confused1:

Nope. I have an opening for CAI at my bumper. When rev normally, its not strong enough to suck up water. In fact, you can hardly feel it. You can only feel it when you full throttle then it feels like a vacuum cleaner. So the idea of it sucking up water is minimal, more like sucking up dirts from the floor. If there is ever a flood in spore, to play safe just disconnect the CAI temporary and drive thru the flood loh.
-
More air is good, more clean cool air is better. IMO, CAI with opening close to ground + loose filter = more dust particle get into the engine. That will harm your engine in the long run in exchange for drive pleasure. Give and take.
I am looking for a spare stock air intake for an experiment to get more cool clean air, for fun.

oic... ;D

Just came back from petrol pump.
28 liters for slightly less than half tank. a bit "sia la"
saw the caltex attendant trying to squeeze another 4litres into my car.... impressive.
When I did the calculation of FC, it was 10.4km/l
isit because of the CAI? I nv rev hard leh... sigh. so high FC.... NSman ur theory wrong lah.... 10.4!!!! :furious:
-
ur calculation correct meh? just drive lah~ enjoy your smooth & comfort ride, stop monitor the FC which makes you moody..
you just change the ram to bigger diameter which allow better flow, but you still using the same paper mask, makes no different de...
once you ready to mod for open pod & exos system, dont think of saving FC anymore. ok :)
