CVT not lasting?

A brand new cvt gear will cost 8000++ from tc. 
Repair at workshop will cost 4000++.
Second hand from scrap yard will cost 2000++ but must gamble dun know gd a not.

Hi, I went around testing Honda Civic and M3 this weekend.
Realised that Honda Civic is all CVT which I brought the subject matter that Nissan TC cannot repair any CVT but can only order new ones to replace. The sales exe told me that Honda warranty is 5 years regardless of mileage! Kah Motors repairs their CVT and claimed their technology on CVT is different from Nissan.
As you all know, Nissan CVT cars cannot move off fast even if we press hard on the accelarator but the Honda Civic begs to differ.
Like our Latio, the engine is smooth and quiet (unlike the M3) and I am able to accelerate effortlessly despite having full loaded adult passengers (5 adults).
The M3 engine is louder and seems to need more power to accelerate (Felt that the engine is rough).  The M3 autogear is normal AT.
I am wondering if the quiet and smoothness of the Honda and Nissan cars are due to CVT gearbox?

I was also surprised when the M3 sales exe asked me if my gearbox has been changed! He explained that CVT normally dont last.
A fact that we all knew by now but Honda sales exe claimed its their std on all their cars now and there are no CVT issues.

Guess Nissan CVT technology knowhow is inferior to Honda's.
I was so impressed that I decided to book a Civic.

Current Fit is CVT but Jazz and City is 5 speed AT if I not wrong.

Their Car brochures all stated now CVT is standard equipment for all Honda Cars. And they gave 5 years unlimited mileage warranty!
I was quoted tradein value quite low as they stated my tyres (2 years old) balding and had an accident before (rear).
But I managed to get back $2K tradein value today, how? I dont think its nice to reveal as I didnt do it purposely.
It was not the sales exe that convinced me to buy, it was the Civic!

Since you have already booked Civic, does it matter is it CVT or not right, just enjoy. If Civic not overpriced IMO, I would also like to own one but my next ride would be VW Jetta 1.4 TSI as of now.

Oh Bro, the Honda CVT is different from Nissan's! Our CVT rides cant accelerate like the AT Latio but the Civic can.

Bro i think latio cvt can accelerate as fast as our At latio if u look at the 0-100km timing on the specs u feel its slow i think its becos of cvt dont let u feel the gear jerk but in actual fact its as fast as At. and of cos latio 1.5 engine how to run faster than civic 1.8 with 140hp? its not about the cvt its the engine. just my 2 cents...

Bro, I may have not specify accelarate from what? What I meant was accelerate from stationery position.
Alot of us have brought this issue up with TC, they always say CVT cannot accelerate from stationery. I did that so many times with rmp going beyond 2k & car cannot accelerate fast. It may also have something to do with the more powerful engine.
But I think by now you would have noticed that whenever we accelerate beyond 2krpm, our engines' are very loud (like struggling).
Guess engine wise may have play a part in it also.

I always accelerate 2-2.5krpm from traffic light.  and most of the time i was the 1st car.  so if you feel your cvt cannot accelerate from stop, something must be wrong.  cvt doesn't mean slow acceleration.

bro i suggest u keep pressing untill around rpm 4400 as that is the peak torque of our engine and will give u stronger acceralation and of course the higher the rpm more engine noise and if we dun step more the engine sound becomes rather stagnant thus the feeling of struggling as 2k+rpm does not bring out the potential of our engine. when i go to malaysia i quite often press untill 6k+rpm to enjoy the fast feeling and cos fuel there is cheap mar...hehehe but come back sg i drive very conciously as fuel is very ex and i feel shiok to achieve gd fc figures btw our latio is never intended to be a fast chionging car anyway its a comfort familiy car for relax and safe driving

haha, this must be the most lame excuse an SE use to offer you lower prices for your car. Brother, I assume your 2k trade in is the extra above paper value right, didn't know so bad leh, my previous kia rio also get 1k and the SE didn't even bother to look at it before his offer.

maybe price it slightly below civic price? i believe if they bring in impul version they should come with nice colours and nice rims and some cosmetic changes to make it look fierce! when the car come with 180hp i think ppl will want to buy the car for different reasons already? speed?  spacious cabin?
