is it the 'tok tok' sound when u turn the steering? I got the same problem, highlighted to TCM and they change the coupling during my 10K servicing. So far so good, no sound when turning.

Me too got this strange "tok tok{" sound very faint must listen out for it especially after going over humps...seems to be coming from the steering..did complain to TCM and they changed coupling but sound still have...just don't know where it is actually originating from.. :confused1: :confused1:

This ******** noise is really annoying

Driving Latio for 4 years currently and had the coupling replaced once about 2 years ago but since a year ago the noise been back

Went back to TCM few months back and they lubricated it. Helped only for a couple of months before it was back

Only can hear and especially feel it when i'm turning very slow. Sometimes when i parallel park the "tok tok" noise can be quite loud. Sounds as if i hit a car. I'm hearing and feeling it much more cas i'm on 215/45/17 tires

Told TCM TP about the relapse and was told that even by replacing it again it'll eventually be back over time due to the design defect and told me there's no safety issues

It's funny how Nissan knows that this problem exists and have not fixed it in a 5 year old model thats still selling

Going for 90K servicing this week and will be bringing up the issue again

I assume the noise sounds like "tok tok tok tok tok tok tok tok tok" when you are turning your steering wheel at very low speed. The tok noise is consistant and the faster you turn your steering wheel the closer the frequency between the "tok _tok". The noise becomes more when your car or one of your wheel is on an inclination. And if you drive the car, on the move, there's no noise. If that's the case, No, nothing to do with your steering assembly which includes your steering rack and pinion assembly, tie rod and ball joint, steering column. It is the strut mount bearing and coil spring rubbing each other. No safety concern unless there is a knocking sound when you brake. For those guys who lower their cars with a slightly worn bearing, the noise is even more prominent. Don't waste your money rectifying the fault. If you intend to, go and replace the strut mount, replace the shock absorber at the same time. Don't do a double job next time. Anyway shock absorbers lasts about 50000km and their damping forces drop drastically. For those cars above this mileage, it's about time anyway. The KYB dampers are not bad. Cheap too.

thanks all bro and sis for the feed back , i though only mine got this problem , TAN Cheong / Nissan  should solve this problem for us , don't like the same as Toyota only when accident happen then they really looke into this , sometime i just wonder whether the steerling will just give way when driving high speed in high way , don't body will know right , Just curious why they know this is manufacture fault and yet they still don't change it and still selling this model again , if they realy want to sell again they should solve this problem . and also they should give us extended warranty for this problem , otherwise after change for six month or one year this problem come back again . :crycry: :crycry:

Buyers i doubt know about this problem before purchase so only become victims once they own their Latio

I don't think there's words going around that Latio has this problems, so probably sales are not affected hence the reason why they're not rushing to fix it ?

My ride's 4 years old, 90K millage, lowered & with 17" rims so probably thats why i can feel and hear it far too well

Doubt like what many say its a safety issue. Probably just got to live with it  :crycry:

I bought my latio 2nd hand. Within one year of owner ship, change 2 times.

Happens usually when u full-lock your steering wheel - likely during parking, doing U-turn etc....

After u change the parts, next time u doing U turn try not to turn the steering until the end which u can hear the sound. This will shorten the lifespan of the coupling. It needs practice to gauge whether yr steering is reaching the end a not.

you can burn down their office if you want, and you'll be in the news headline. if just bang / flip table, maybe only kenna stomped.

relac bro... bang table also need energy and my attention. Avoid full-locking to the end is considered a very minor best practices that i can adopt without causing notable inconvenience for myself.

To each of his own.
