not advisable..... ur tire thread will wear out faster in the middle & given tat stock tires already skidded easily.... u are contributing more postential to skidding with such PSI.

dangerous, so take care.

agree with you stephen. although max pressure is at 300, this does not mean go ahead and pump that high. not to forget, hot that time, tire pressure will increase as well.

do drive carefully bro fri13th

hi bro thks for the advise! so far for me the stock tires are serving me well for my driving style, i think u are right in ur point to driving carefully as that is better than having those very grippy tires on our rides and be over confident that those tires will make us invincible on the road and tailgate other vehicles on the road.....recently i just meet with a chain collision accident on AYE last month a new merc slk convertable SJB plate and a fiat punto come crashing to my backside after i had stop for about 2 seconds. the slk had those huge expensive looking tires and rims on it yet still can crash into me. i pump at 270psi front and 250 psi back after trying out different psi and i find it suits me best as car move off faster and turn in also sharper. the recomended pressure i think is too little for me cos i look at the tires they look like punture to me especially the front 1s. so i think staying alert of the road condition and keeping a safe distance and speed during driving is critical to having a safe and pleasant journey. As for wear in the center i had not experience it b4 on my kind of tire pressure its always the side wear out first especially the front ones...but not a problem lar just rotate it every 10k or 20k should solve the problem

Bro..... stock tires are comfort rubber.... aint performance tat give u a straight/flat side wall.... the wall of the stock tire are suppose to look liddat to create cushioning.  if pump till tat "protruding" side wall is flat.... then u really gotta drive with care...

SPC 98 got power, but burn like no tomorrow, esp when idling or kena jam
Esso 5K....Good power, burn slowly
Esso 8K Good power, burn somewhat quicker?? To be confirmed

My conclusion....stick to Esso 5K ....

That equates to  50% Esso5K+ 25% Esso8K + 25% SPC98 = the best !

actually he is not lying, thiiner oil should yield better fuel efficiency.

But the fact is, after the 3rd FOC service and changing synthetic. Very obviously, while my usage model remains, FC drop from ~11km/l to ~10km/l. The car also feel no power to move.

If I would know this'll be the result, I won't change oil. Or don't even send for service. Their FOC 10K service ruined my car to a certian extent..

maybe not tat ideal (but then generally should still be better than their mineral).... this is the reason why i didnt take up their maintenance program...... becos they use fastflo :)

You can pump to 270psi ?  Thought most is around 33psi only ?  :confused1:

It can go beyond 33 psi.  Two days after I collected the car, I went to pump petrol and check tire air pressure at the same time.  The reading was 37 psi for the front (4 readings above the recommended 33).  I was surprised why they pumped so high.  Wonder if it is they were preparing for the air to leak overtime while in the warehouse.  Now I always pump at recommended plus 1 psi (to compensate a bit for the hot air).

Currently my car now is still under run-in period mileage 900km<1000km. Understand that need to subtain 2000km onward than can lup.......

But my FC is dropping from 11.5km/l to 10.3km/l comparing 1st tank & 2nd tank SPC 95 top up. Also dun understand why bcos my driving pattern didn't change much as it is still under run-in :(.

Any bro care to comment?

Burn slowly for 95. Look like I should forgo the Green at Esso and go for 95 Red. Doesn't matter for sudden change from 98 to 95?

I didn't know that psi involved with FC too.

Can I ask that why everyone seem to go back to TCM even after the warranty period over? Why not go to other shops?

Just wondering thou.  :zipped:

My FC is currently 12+km/l. So far so good for 2nd hand car. But I do need a full servicing. (Does anyone know whats the price range for thorough servicing? Thanks a lot)

Ya very agree the stock tyres already don't grip very well. maybe I will increase a little to the front....say 245 and  rear 225...

So far this is what I feel when I change petrol

SPC 95 CMI, no power at all so make me squeeze more oil
SPC 98 got power, but burn like no tomorrow, esp when idling or kena jam
Esso 5K....Good power, burn slowly
Esso 8K Good power, burn somewhat quicker?? To be confirmed
Caltex sliver: not bad power, good burn rate, not too quick
Caltex Gold and above: no chance to try yet, too exp.
Shell 95, no diff from SPC 98
Shell 98, no diff from Esso 5K but pricier
V-power, dun think will try until they day I drive to Malaysia.

My conclusion....stick to Esso 5K ....

u r my bro when it comes to petrol  ;D im also sticking to esso 5k. Yup, personally tried all sorts of petrol in the beginning also. find that in terms of smoothness, shell and spc is better than esso. esso makes the engine somewhat...raw? or rougher abit, but i feel its got slightly better punch. Anyway, got a 12% corporate discount la, and since im a heavy user of the car, i cant achieve the max discount which SPC gives.

Ken: yah yah, tailgating is a egoistic bad habit. I think jus overtake if u can will be better.

recently i just meet with a chain collision accident on AYE last month a new merc slk convertable SJB plate and a fiat punto come crashing to my backside after i had stop for about 2 seconds. the slk had those huge expensive looking tires and rims on it yet still can crash into me.

Ken: Ouch man....i feel you bro, but difference was that the fella that banged into me was a subaru R1. Almost exactly the same, stopped for about 1-2 sec, then bang! The SLK probably couldnt handle the power and couldnt brake in time ba?

i pump at 270psi front and 250 psi back after trying out different psi and i find it suits me best as car move off faster and turn in also sharper. the recomended pressure i think is too little for me cos i look at the tires they look like punture to me especially the front 1s. so i think staying alert of the road condition and keeping a safe distance and speed during driving is critical to having a safe and pleasant journey.

Ken: Agree with u on this point, no matter what tires or pressure u use, eyes must be sharp. However, sometimes on the roads, there are pple who suddenly cut into our lanes or do really silly and rash things, in such situations, it will be better to have your braking system more effective lo. i hope u understand that we are jus concerned, not saying you are wrong in pumping so high k?

As for wear in the center i had not experience it b4 on my kind of tire pressure its always the side wear out first especially the front ones...but not a problem lar just rotate it every 10k or 20k should solve the problem

Ken: try rotating at 10k will be better. but even so, i know of a bro who used to pump 290kpa. ya, very high...too high...caused uneven wear on his tire. of cos, i wun dare say it will be the same for ur case since yours is 270kpa. Anyway, if u r happy with it, suits your driving style, and does save you petrol, then cheers!
