Pls do not mislead people, pls note your assumption is based on fully paid or no loan scenerio.

Dealer will take in base on OMV and COE, with estimate of $2K body value nia. If $42K, I think many Lations will change car more often.  :D

What ! 2.5 year old latio body value only $2K ? Wouldn't it be having a better body value to be exported to some countries ?

My previous 2 year old vios can fetch $11K !

Jazz:
Besides Toyota & Honda, pls do not expect high body value for other makes, you list and breakdown your OMV and COE and I will tell you is your body really did fetch $11K. Selling privately, trade in or sell to dealer?

i'm currently owning a sedan (Dec 05)... intend to change to the sports version...
still prefer a hatchback car...
not sure how to go about doing it...
does it work like handphones where i can go back to Nissan and trade in the sedan for a sports?
wonder how much i would lose in terms of $...
any bros/sis here able to advise me on this?

Thx in advance!

I sold my Feb/2006 Sports in late Dec2007. Managed to get 45k from a 2nd hand dealer. My COE was abt 13k and OMV 17.5k. So body value definitely quite a bit. Selling cars to 2nd hand dealers is like depend on luck and how deligent you do homework. There are unscrupulous and good ones abound.  Advise to call up as many dealers as possible to get quotes and check sgcarmart for idea on how much ur car can fetch. My colleague got his Sylphy with Latio sedan trade-in at Tampines sales branch (authorised dealer, only one there) and got a better price than me despite only 4AT and sedan! So can try ur luck there.

I got my car for 60.5k and suffer 15.5k in less than 2 yrs. Factoring every cent I put in, it came to 24k - meaning 1k/month just on loans! If possible, keep it for longer period to cut loses. Also, must check with financial company abt loan status - whethere you need to top-up to redeem your loan now. If your downpayment is less than 20%, chances is you might have to top-up to sell the car. So, do all the necessary homework to ensure you are comfortable to do it. If not, bear for a while longer before changing ride. Hope you have a enjoyable process.

I followed your link to the car at sgcarmart. basically dealer took car in Dec 07...not sold yet? (by agent)hmmmm..wonder of agent is sweating??

my car's age pretty close to yours...been thinking of getting a SUV ..family is bigger & kind of need the space

agreed with the whole hang on to the car as long as possible....you drive depreciation down

temptation & newer models always hard to fight off :devil2:

myself, my excuse is a bigger family....but when i checked my paycheck didn't get much bigger...so i probably stick to my wheels...dunno :confused1:

Ya I did trade in for my vios for the current latio. I couldn't remember the OMV but think was about $11K and COE about $26K. For my 2.2 year old car, plus the $11K body value, total cost I fetch was about $41K.

Maybe you are right, selling privately, trade in or selling to dealer could have different value. You really need to hunt for the best deal. I think TC got a good value compare with other dealers. Moreover my previous car was quite 'lok' with scratches left behind by vandalism, bumper dented, also didn't deduct the value. Probably got a good SE.
