wipers jerky and noisy when wiping
« on: August 24, 2008, 09:56:20 PM »
hi all..

today i find that my wipers are very jerky and noisy when wiping.. esp the bigger 22" one.. problem is this wiper i just changed not too long ago.. and just today afternoon is doing fine.. the prev one also same problem, so i tot is wiper fault.

is it something got to do  windscreen ? i suppose not, as this comes only recently ? or is there any particular brand i have to stick to ? pls advise..

another thing is i tend to lift up both wipers during under hot sun, could this cause any harm to the wiper blade or rod ?

Did you apply anything to your windscreen?

Rain X is notorious for causing the windscreen wiper to shrudder.

Try cleaning your windscreen with kerosene to remove any chemicals that you may have applied.

stock wipers normally will be jerky after sometime as the dirt accumulates on the wiper blades...
try to use a wet cloth to clean the blades and make sure no dirt left...
for wind screen try to use clay bar with soapy water on it to get rid of residue....

I had this problem after went for outside car wash.  It has something to do with the windscreen.  Now every time I wash it with CIF.  After cleaning the windscreen a few times, no more jerk.

So no point changing the wiper.  The problem is the windscreen not clean.

If jerky wiper continues despite all measures taken, replace a new wiper and use a damp cloth to wipe the wiper blade to maintain it.

You will be surprised how dirty the blade can be - it leaves a layer of black on your cloth.
