iagree strike nail, what should he do?
« on: October 02, 2008, 11:13:43 AM »
Hi guys,

Tyre 中钉 already!

Just realised it yesterday. I think the tyre kena it for at least 2 to 3 days but I wasn't aware... (even though I feel the tyres got abit of problems when I drive, i tot is no enuf air only so i dun care... Nvm, new experience... noted already after this incident...)

Went to Caltex stn to pump fuel to full tank, realised the FC has dropped to 10.19km/L :(

And, before that, I realised the driving pleasure has reduce, I believe it must be due to the Tyres but I was so lazy to check & pump air... until last night. I pumped to 210 for it.

Today morning, I take a look at it, it is still not flat, so, still can drive to work. Now park at car park, at People's Park, how ah? Where is the nearest place to fix the tyre? Any idea? Another thing to take note is that, i am thinking to change my tyre soon, and my NEXT servicing is set at 30000KM, currently is abt 29000KM, how ah? Do at one go? But i am thinking to chg the tyres at KL coz my in-law know people there heard can be a few $100 cheaper for 4 tyres leh... How ah????

FYI, I just renewed my car insurance & roadtax (half year). Didn't buy from AIG(TCM), bought from the other co., benefits more than AIG & can service car at TCM (if touchwood thing happen), and most imptly the insurance premium is abt $300 cheaper than AIG.

Regards.
sorry, i must agree because i don't know how to disagree. agreeeee only....

Just change to spare tyre and you can drive to KL and get your 4 brand new tyres at S$100 cheaper.

You did not get AIG insurance from Tan Chong? Does that mean you had to forgo your $500 insurance discount and pay $500 more for your Latio?

Kanna it before too. Got 2 options:

1. as Clarence has said, go change the 4 tyres
2. If your tyres are still quite new and you don't want to change the tyres yet, can drive to any tyre shop for them to pull out the nail and patch the hole for you. Shouldn't be more than $15 per tyre...

Hi clarence

Good idea, thanks for your suggestion. But, if i still cannot make it, can I call your mobile to ask for help? Can? Please.... What's ur hp#? Pls PM me. Thanks.

Yes, I didn't get AIG from TCM. The new one i bought aso cover S$500 + it allows us to go back to TCM to repair & claim insurance (if the touchwood incident happened).

But, for the tyre paku issue, don't waste the NCD mah? :)

Hi shpesft

Thanks for ur points.

The chg of tyres will not be so fast.

My ride is now 29000KM, tyres still *quite new*? I am not sure how to judge...
< S$15 per tyre? So ex???

Hi Jo Lee

You are right.
My ride 1st insured on 04/10/2007.
Now 04/10/2008 is my 1year renewal.

My agent aso recommend me to use back AIG-TCM as my ride is still within 3yrs old. But, AIG charge me S$15xx.xx.... So ex?

The save of the premium of abt S$300+ can let me use it for the Roadtax, so, i don't go for AIG. Go for Liberty instead as the benefits / coverage are abt the same & Liberty insurance allow us to go back to TCM for servicing also... (to back to TCM for servicing, Liberty aso charge slightly higher premium...)

Well, one thing that Liberty ppl ask, WHY MUST go back to service @ TCM? TCM aso may outsource to other company to do repairing works aso if they are too busy. You get me? The car will be tow to TCM but TCM ask other co. to service.

Depends on whether its a expensive shop (i.e. StamXXXX) or the neighbourhood shop. They may have to remove your rim to patch the hole depending on how deep the nail has gone.

if juz goin kl change tyre not really worth, the toll fees n petrol mayb more than $100+ and it quite dangerous as u driving wif a spare tyre and it will b a long way there and u cant drive at high speed.

IAgree. Better spend $15 to patch the hole 1st. Then if u decide to change tyre in KL, that's another matter liao.

think better dont play. Not worth it just to save $15 and have the risk like damage rim, or loss of control of car..

fix asap. personally think its like penny wise pound foolish =)

I had the same experience as you some time back but since changing ride then, didn't wanna change the tyres... Got to a shop at Defu area, they patched the tyre from inside the tyre, i.e. remove the rim, patch from inside and outside: cost $12. I've heard of friends who kanna chopped to get it done at $15-20... I guess the cost also depends on the difficulty of the patch lor
