Timing belt or timing chain?

(1/4) > >>

gunner1976:
Dear fellow Latio Owners,

Could u guys clarify whether Latio is running on belt or chain? My understanding was running on "Timing Chain" till one of my friend bought his car to service at Autosaver. The mechanic told him that the "timing belt" needs replacement.

Other than the fan belt and water pump (normally replaced together), are there any more "belts" that need replacement over time?

Pls advise.. Thanks

zzyzx:
The latio is using timing chain FYI.

CustomGolf:
The only belt that needs to be changed is the alternator belt, which is also the air-con belt and it should be replace at 60K. Mine was shredded before it reaches 60K.

gunner1976:
Yup...

my friend latio mileage is 65000km.. however Autosaver told him is timing belt...confusion here.
He was charged $90.

How much did you pay for it?

westresting:

I don't think it is Timing belt, because changing timing belt cost more than $90.00. It cost more than $300.00 at least.
