Personally, i feel Singaporeans are very mislead in terms of the mechanics of a car. Numerous times i've heard a workshop staff/owner at different workshops mislead people into spending extra money on useless products.
Let's start with engine oils.
http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/engine_oil_history.shtmlhttp://wiki.seloc.org/a/Oil_Labelling_Explainedhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_oilThe top few brands of oils i recommend are Castrol(ester) , Motul (esters) and Redline.
I've personally used all of them on a car that does track time and street time, and i won't do with any other oil. If ester oils can take a beating from a F1 car and a Jet engine, why not?
They are slightly more pricey of course, but if you scout around you can actually get them at pretty good prices. If you've spent so much on buying a car, what's another 20 bucks extra for servicing? Pushing the car hard is one thing, having mechanical sympathy is another :). Treat your car right, and your car will love you back.
Some engine food for thought. :)
Next time, i'll give some links on tyres and brakes. :)
KeeFy out. (Literally out of Singapore)
