Help on GPS recommandation...

Good day to all,

Dunno issit me or the upgrading of SG road.. I have becoming more of a Road 'idiot' when trying to go to a 'new' place in SG......  :crycry:

CHeck any bro or sis can intro any user friendly GPS system. to me anot...

Garmin good, can use the free source map, malsing map.

Buy Samsung Omnia, with Navimap GPS. Good enough for me. :D

hi!

me using garmin nuvi 200. so far so good. just need abit time when cold start to track satelite. if u need those with multimedia player, think holux is good. hope this help

Really appericiated for the infos....

I try not to have a GPS phone yet... :)

Had just tried Holux GPSmile53B(Map King version) borrow from a frd..

Think will try Gramin next to give both a verdict....

PS: Used to owned a Nokia Navigator Phone... more user friendly then Holux, just slower start up only...  :zipped:

Have owned a garmin nuvi205 for about a month now.....happy with it...easy to use....long battery hours when fully charged.....quick in re-route and satelite acquisition..... :yehyeh: :yehyeh: :yehyeh:

You buy the device for GPS and it is connected to satellite. No subscription is needed. You can get the map from malsing.

Im using tytn II as GPS at times. Most of the time is off because I can rem the road at times. But having a GPS device is better then a phone. LOL.  :devil2:

Can consider looking at the GPS models available during the upcoming IT Show (12th - 15th March). Usually have quite good deals during these shows.

When I was looking at GPS, the main things I had in mind were:
1. How to update maps and preferably free. Your GPS is as good as your latest updated maps.

2. Ease of use. Some maps may not have postal code search so please select and try the GPS models you are considering. The postal code search is mostly map dependant.

3. Ease of use II. Impt thing is how long it takes your GPS to search for a location. No point sitting in the car and wait 10 mins while your set searches for your next destination.

P/S: I'm currently using a Nuvi 5000, mainly for the AV input which I've connected to a reverse camera. Don't like too many screens on my dashboard. Only draw-back is that it's meant for vehicle use, no internal battery

Can go checkout Auto-bac....I got mine in US which cost me SGD228 and my colleague upon seeing mine, went to auto bac to get one same model as mine and cost him SGD290....I think it is a relatively good buy.... :bleh:

That is a huge GPS. Do you still leave it on the dashboard when you step off the car?
