Can consider taking up 3rd party fire and theft insurance instead, if you don't drive up to Malaysia.

Afterall, a car in Singapore is worth just the paper value plus a few thousand dollars for the body.

too many accidents on road, too many claims from insurance co... so they have to rise the premium??

Really SIAN with these sucker...on 1 hand, if u claim insurance, the NCD will be affected (=> need to pay higher next time) but for those decent drivers with clean records, still need to bear the high premium just due to other ppl fault :confused1:

I think TLC can start to sell insurance as it's Sure gain one lah.. :yehyeh:

1st party, you can claim when you knock others or incur damage to your car by yourself, but for 3rd party, you can only claim other party which bump you but you have to pay cold hard cash for your own damage.

3rd party also can cover against fire and theft too with addition premiums.

Hi All,

It's time to renew my car insurance. AIG quoted me $1967, more than $200 more than what I used to pay although no claim. Thinking of jumping ship.

So far, India International Insurance offers me the lowest quote. Checked online and found Tenet also offering about the same price but comes with 15 days of loss of usage Any bros or sis have any feedback about these 2 insurance companies?

Any recommendation of insurance package that you would like to offer me, pls feel free to suggest.

By the way, is 1 week lead time enough for the insurance company and LTA to process the new insurance coverage and road tax renewal?

Tks & Rgds
Alan

Comprehensive cover both yours car damaged and 3rd party claims against you.

3rd party only insurance covers claims from other party against you. i.e when you damaged(your fault) other peoples car or properties (lamp post, traffic light, house), and they want to claim you, 3rd party covers that.  As for your own damage, you pay yourself.

To add on Bro Ender's explanation, if you bang people backside, the victim will claim your insurance for the damage but you have to fork out cold hard cash for your own repair.

ya. general insurers loss money money last yr.  High accident rate and inflated claim amt
also contributed to the increase insurance fee
cheers
