Anyone tried 195/60/R15 tyres on Stock RIMs?
« on: April 20, 2009, 03:55:45 AM »
Cannot find the J50 specs for the tyres I wanted. Closest match is a 195/60/R15 spec. Not sure any bros here did that and if can share pic

was worried on 2 aspects. 60 being a bit low. 195 being too bulging.

Appreciate any sharing of info

I have seen a Latio on 195/60R15.

It fits but the tyre bulges out from the rims a little.

Not  a problem if you don't mind the looks.

Hi! I'm using 195/65 R15, which is even higher. But no issues - did not notice any bulges at all!

According to my SE, 195/60 R15 is very common size for Latio coz of better grip compared to 185. So i dun think it's any issue using it. As you can see, i even went for a slightly thicker one at 65 for a bit more comfort. Been using it since July 2008 and no problems at all.

I prefer the tyre to bulge out from the rims, rims are less likely to scratch the curbs

When you see tyre bulge out, it time to go pump pressure.  :glare:

Nowadays tyres usually have rim protector to protect your rim, but if the force impact is great, it won't help much too.  :bleh:

Was on 195/60R15 on the stock rims. 2 issues
1st - it did not look too nice
2nd - the ride was way too bouncy

Now on 16" 205/50R16 and the feels more stable.

How is your fuel consumption on 205 compared to stock 185 tyres?

This will result in incorrect / inaccurate speedometer reading.

after using this calculator http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html i think quite ok for me to go with 195/60 R15 tyres since the difference is so marginal.

But still hope some bro can share pics.

Yes, 195/60R15 is highly recommended over 195/65R15.

Currently still running on mineral and the FC hovers ard 12+km/l But if travel more on highway can easily achieve 14 - 15 imho.

Hi, jz to share for those who want to keep your 15" rim...

Jz change to k415 195/60R15
Look: better compare to stock with a little bulge out which i dun mind.
Noise: quieter than stock and can feel the comfort as well.
Grip: good that make my pickup abit slower and corning is much stable ;D
Need to do some mod to improve the pickup.... :devil2: any recommendation??

Hi, above is my personnel opinion and compare to stock
still awaiting to try on wet road.

Overall : Good
