My front bodykit got ripped out
« on: September 28, 2009, 08:30:53 PM »
I din drive to work today cuz my dad wants to pick up mooncakes for the family. And very suay, he drove head in and mount the kerb in front, the car went up, and reversed, down.

The entire bodykit (front side) got ripped out.

damn sad, tan chong say i need to change the entire thing. I very scared it will cost damn a lot. I was thinking whether there will be any other mechanics in singapore that can help me with this?

Dont take Tan Chong word for everything. Their default is change everything no matter big or small.
Take a look at your bumper and look out for the fastener point. Are they all ripped apart? If yes, chances are you need to change.
If no just secure your bumper back will do but sure will not look pristine one lah.
How come everybody post count all so high?
Chiong arrgghhhh. +1  :uppercut:

Hi feel sorry for your experience, I think our latios all got this problem, hope you didn't take it too harsh on your dad.

just to share my car largi jiat lat, tampinese mall, the kerb pull and somehow twisted my bumpers out until almost like 45 degress as I reversed the car when I park head in and heard a scratching sound, my heart sank literally, as I can see the bare metals of the bar and grills of the car, very much felt as if seeing the bone from the torn flesh.

But I realise the bumper snaps back on along the horizontal sections, as there are white color plastic clips ( not sure what u call those)

The only thing that broke was the retension clip along the sides, above the front wheel near the head lights area. Actually there is a bottom  black plastic cover below the bumper that covers the portion from the front wheel well area to the bumper, the plastic holding got torn from the screw that was holding it, as a result, I cannot travel above 50Km as the ram air will blow the cover down and I will hear scratching sound

Initially I also heartache and feel demoralised, thought backside and pocket tear with expensive replacement.

Went to a workshop along changi North area, quoted me all in all 50 bucks for a retension clip that was original and labour to fix all the broken lower panels back

In the mean time just use some cable tie and such to try hold the bumper together as the wind drags will  or might cause further damage, will try to source for the contact of the workshop and PM u.

workshop in Changi North Area, behind the firestation. cannot find the reciept. But the fellow who attended to me had only 3 fingers on his hand and hes quite nice to negotiate with.
