Change of air-con compressor

I know this topic have been posted many times, but all bros/sis do get your car air-con compressor check during your warranty else you will have to pay more than $1k to get it replace.

I went for my 60k servicing and was told my air-con compressor need to be change, worried initially as my warranty just over by a week so the SA say need to check with japan see can waive or not, luckily it was waived but the SA told me it is on a case by case basic, maybe I am on NPMP.

So if you can hear a whring sound, even when air-con not on, do send in to TC for check.

think around 500 plus for original compressor and 300 plus for OEM.....

I changed mine at TCM in Jun 09 for $1.3K.....

only free if under warranty, NPMP doesn't mean extend your warranty, after 3 years is up to TC decision liao.

During my warranty period I complaint twice No cold
After checking they say is Fine.
Now no more warranty, Not sure any extend or not ?

I tink NPMP include most parts including a/c compressor unless i am wrong. For my case, i also complain a/c noise but they checked & said ok.

confirm NPMP doesn't cover air-con compressor coz I am also on NPMP, my charges was waived maybe coz my warranty over by around 1 week only. The SA only confirmed waived after 1 week of checking with japan side.

dang, i also complain not cold and they say ok also. what a way to push away their responsibilities!

If only we are like in USA. Their CVT warranty extend to 10 yrs and they even refund those who paid for the repair before the extension was announced

I am in similar situation... warranty going to be over in 2 weeks... but not cold, last time 26 degrees already freezing cold but now 24 degrees only so so...

Is there any tactic to get them to really do a through check?

one way to prolong the life of ur compressor is to change air con filters regular.
An less choked filter is the way to let ur compressor less harder...

I may have lobangs for air con compressor and air con parts as i used to work in this field,
but u need to find ur own workshop....

air con filters, every 10,000km to 12,000 km
these ac filter change should not be saved...
one of the main reasons why u never or seldom heard pple change these ac filters are becos, in the market, these filters are highly priced...
Workshop and agents marked up very high, so end user, when knew of the price, felt very heart pain to change the filters.
imagine one pc of filter is about the price for a good bottle of engine oil...

If u are interested in getting the ac filters, look for me. have a look at my filters before u buy it.
if they are not good, dont buy it.

I been in this trade for 2 years already, is still surviving on these filters despite stiff competition from other sellers / traders, and i only sell air con filters only.
I got some pple who came up to me and told me, my Latio and LAncer CS3 filters, given the design and quality, are way underpriced, they said I should have marked up higher... :)

Yes there are also problems with our aircon comnpressor. Its not just merely chnging of the aircon filter.
I did not realised my aircon is not working except that I need to turn the temp to 22 to feel cold.
During one of my compaints, the tester went with me for a ride, he commented that my aircon dont sound right due to the loudness when we arer in stationery position.
I was lucky that he changed it for me after that. My warranty expires after that.
Overall, I have changed quite a bit of parts with TC. It all boils down to the SA on whether they want to entertain yr complaints.

yup, 3 years warranty, but actually TC are more willingly to change faulty parts during warranty compared to my ex-ride dealer. For my air-con compressor, actually I sent in for my 60k servicing and didn't complain about the air-con thingy, the technician are the one who highlighted the problem to the SA who then told me about it.

I'm thinking of sending my car in to TC again to check for faulty parts... warranty going to expire in a month's time.

My air con grill on the left will make some 'tak-tak-tak-tak-tak' rapid sound when the car comes stationary... its getting louder and louder. Wondering if thats the sign of the compressor breaking down?

yup, it is the sound that indicate the air-con compressor got problem as told by my SA. Go complain and see what they say. Or try different service centre see got better luck.
