Think of it in a physics way. If you are using something to take away energy (lowering temperature), u need energy to take it out. Where do u get your energy? by burning fuel lor.

So the lower the temp thermostat u set, the more energy that it has to take out. So more fuel burnt for your ride's comfort.

Turning the fan up just uses the motor power. Takes a little bit of energy compared to using more aircon strength to bring down the temperature.

The reason why people wind down their windows during long journeys is not because they want to save petrol. Is because with a/c on for long journey your engine will overheat. So they wind down windows. This info is told by my dad. I have no experience on it. So pardon me if I said anything wrong.

As for what I do, on a hot sunny day when i enter my car, i'll set it all the way to 18 degrees and turn the fan to max for abt 1min. Then after that i will set it back to 25deg and speed 2. until i shiok liao then turn to speed 1. As to why i do it, i dunno also.... habit liao. I just want to have a comfortable ride. If setting at 18deg will make me comfortable, i'll stick to it. no point bothering so much on FC savings when it will change your driving habit. :)

Cuz if i really want to bother abt FC, i'll get a van - Good FC @ 20km/l, a/c set to max also can... 2000cc pick up faster than latio on full load somemore!! rev hard hard, diesel cheap!

enjoy the ride, not becoz of save petrol. everyone also want to save on it. But after a while, you will think like wise instead.

I still enjoy my 22deg at speed 2.

dun step acc too hard unless necessary or so, and dun mod it. =)

hmm..

for the initial question, aircon temperture do consume more fuel compare to fan. so if u wana juz on the fan, fc most pro will improve. all depend on ur foot.

but like what all the rest said, dun get too over on FC. enjoy ur ride which is the most important thing.

as for me, i always maintain my aircon around 24-25. which i'm very comfortable with the temperture. my FC was like 12.2 - 12.5

After i done up my VS and grounding to improve my electrical distribution. what i encounter like all bros here, my car dun feel so sluggish anymore. and my FC improve at the moment like 13.1 - 13.5 for my second tank already. and my 3rd tank is still improving.
juz my little bit of experience sharing.

but if off aircon, guess most impact will be ur car will increase power ba.

1 cent of advise.

I never bother, most of the time is 22c @ fan 2. Driving in comfort more important, if not might as well ride a bike!

Grounding = check it out here

hi bro, dont expect too much from what a VS can do, all it does is to stabilise your voltage.
As for some claims as it can have lesser engine brake, lesser fuel consumption, improved timing / acceleration (there is a review on a certain brand that after installing that VS, the ride can hit 180kmph from 140kmp in 3 secs)....etc

Ultimately, you are the end user who is going to spend your money on such devices, as such, need to decide for yourself....
Take a look at my website

hi bro... enjoy your ride!

it depends on that particular day's climatic condition. if the weather is cooling like past few days, u need not use the air-con...

22 degree? I never try that before. My AC usually 26 speed 2. Then wife at rear seat complain too cold for the kids then 26 speed 1.

If I drive alone will be 25 deg for hot day or open window for short drive.

I have been practicing fuel saving techniques for a year now, I've noticed turning off the aircon gives you and extra 1-2 km/l, from my past experiences.

Whether this saving is worth the tradeoff for comfort, its up to you. I compromise by turning it on when it gets unbearably hot like in afternoon. In the morning and at night, windows slightly down works for me.
