Wah $3k excess? Very high leh.

Mine is also $600.  Worse than the NTUC plan I used previously.  I was with AIG for 2 years for my previous ride, on the 3rd year it quoted me almost the same as my 2nd year quote even after all the discounts, citing cost increase as the reason.  Fed up with AIG, I checked around and found NTUC quoting $300 cheaper.  Think I will go back to NTUC after my 1st year insurance is up.

there's new rules being implemented.

New/Young/Inexperienced drivers will have to pay higher excess, amount and actual age will depends on which insurance company u r with.

How do u consider as new/young/inexperienced driver? I got my license in year 2000, but this is my first time owning a car, no NCD, consider new/young/inexperienced driver?

So meaning difference drivers may have different excess based on age? (If is AIG)

You referring to your insurance premium $3000 right ? It already very high. Don't think you are referring to excess value.

Thought of it b4.. but they kind of disapproved me in getting a car... and were not confident that I can manage financing it cuz they think i am still a little girl.. so i bought w/o them knowing initially...  :D

no point putting under parents' name coz if there is any accident(touch wood) by drivers other than the insured(in this case the parents), the insurance company would not pay out a single cent. and if u put parents as insured and u as named driver, the premium and excess level will be based on the youngest and most inexperienced driver  ::)

it is insurance companies' "privilege" to increase premium/excess. They had claimed that last year was a bad year for them as they sufferred losses due to high claims amount. Thus we see an increase in premium and excess for all motorists across all companies.

there are always cheaper quotes around. juz need to spend some time to source for them. 4get abt AIG except for the 1st year as TCM tied up with them for all their new cars.  :nonod:

If your parent hit 50% NCD for many year liao then ask them to transfer NCD to you lah, they still pay lower premium due to age and clean claim history. You pay the different for them and you still have some saving.

I was in insurance underwriting before and I can tell you the alarming numbers of exhorbitant and fake claims are the main culprit.

Blame the increase of premiums on those black sheep workshops that send their COE cars on the road and highways to deliberately cause a chain collission. That's a multi million dollar business for them.

Car owners who collaborate with workshops to cause further damage to their cars to inflate the claims, and make false medical claims should also be shot for their selfish acts.

Scary, I thought this can only be found in Malaysia.   :w00t:

Turbo charged (TC) cars and N.A. cars are in 2 different leagues altogether.

TC cars and coupes tend to command higher premiums compared to N.A. family saloons like Nissan Latio.

Is there a difference between Brands also (assuming same CC), eg Honda vs Toyota vs Nissan?
Heard that Honda cars pay higher premium.
