205/45/R16 tyres too low profile?

If you change to a 205/45/R16, the gap will become even bigger because the overall diameter of the wheel will decrease. Want to reduce gap, go lower your suspension.

Latio is already so low, and if you lower suspension, very likely you will hit kerb when parking, especially if you have fitted body kit too.

Answered your own question.... Cannot.
Want to improve pickup, reduce rim size (weight for weight, this is better), reduce rim weight, reduce tire profile (use 185 instead of 205).
However, these are the downside:
Less braking friction on dry road, less cornering stability,
Advantages:
Apart from the above, improve FC, improve hydroplaning resistance, improve comfort.
Like everything, it is a balancing equation. Choosing tire that has stiff sidewalls will also improve cornering slightly but at the cost of comfort.
I drive slow and corner slow. FC and wet performance are top priority. So I stay strictly to 185/65/R15.

Hahahahha yah... was going to say I am going to see him crawling over humps after that but deleted it at last minute. Saw this guy in a lowered civic crawling up a hump at and angle to avoid scrapping the centre of his front spoiler. Quite amusing to see people like them drive in areas with many humps.
