But after i collect the car, i feel the steering is damn heavy and hard to turn. especially when make U turns, it make me feel bit tricky because the steering wheel springs back to centre too eagerly. totally got no ideal wat had they done on it. does anyone meet this kind of problem before? is this normal? help if anyone get some ideal...

GO BACK TO TCM !!!. You should have highlighted it to them the moment you  collect your ride.

It is a concern that so many Latio owners are having their relatively new faulty steering coupling changed during the warranty period.   :crying:

What is the main function of the steering coupling and where is it located?

Latiorarri,

How old is your Latio?

My latio is ~ 7mths old, did about 17000Km liao..  seems it's a batch related issue?? According to SA, this part being replaced will be an improved part. Late will go and ask more.. car ready liao.. leaving office earlier to go collect. will update more tonight.

This is really scary...my latio is abt 1 mth old....so far it has served me well....but i do have a bolt that rust very badly...when you open ur bonnet, there is a bolt on each side of the front at the side of the lining....I am going to send it in to them tis sat to check..also the rubber sealing right at the back of my wind screen was tucked in....hope it dun cause leakage....also, the UV protector thing got quite a bit of bubbles on the side window and 2 scrap mark (probably when they stick the UV protector sticker) on the front wind screen...sian..
If you r not part of a solution, don't be part of the problem...

Okay folks... erhh this a bit off topic... but i got back my car liao..

1) Steering coupling changed.. car's fine now
2) 2 rear shock absorbers changed .. no more squeeky noise
3) re centred steering wheel, no more difting to left.
4) tighten/adjust belting, no more squeeky noise from the rotating parts.
5) Air con cranky, Ambient temperature sensor not working properly, replaced.

actually the car is fine.. i've been a bit rough with it lately.. so feeling guilty then today eng so i sent the car in for servicing.. the only big issue i had was the steering wheel coupling the rest i just added in see what TCM will do.. i got all my issues fixed. car was actually ready at 1pm. but i din have time to go collect.

Glad that they fixed the faults for you, but am surprised that so many problems have surfaced prematurely in a 7 month Latio.

Hi Latiorarri or anyone here...

how do we know the steering wheel coupling needs to be change? any symptom will let us know in advance?
since you already change new set, how you feel on your car handling? easy to turn the steering?
thanks...

You will hear a "Kiak Kiak" sound when you turn your steering wheel or when driving in a straight line.

Actually if you haven felt it by now it's shows that your steering wheel coupling is working fine  ;) i actually feel it more then hear it. I could 'feel' my steering not smooth when turning.. espcially so when going up/down MSCP. at time a soft sound like something knocking will accompany when i turning or returning my steering wheel to centralised position.

i haven't felt the steering being hard, but do notice a very soft "knocking" sound at times when i return the steering wheel to centre after a right turn at slow speeds, especially during parking.  Tried turning to the left but no sound. Din think much of it at first until i saw this thread.

I am sure Hussein knows. Don't think it was Hussein who posted the advise though. I believe several of his staff post from that nick. Don't think they should be shooting from their hips. Not good for Hussein's reputation.
