Any experience with spring stiffeners ?
« on: December 27, 2008, 09:54:04 AM »
hi.. due to the tendency of our ride being lowered when 3 full adults at the backseats, have thought of installing the spring stiffener at the rear suspension springs.. cost about $85 or $95, depending on size.. rubber material, easily transferable..

anyone has tried it b4 ? does it help much ?

Mine is the clear silicone type, suppose to be the 5th generation. Red colour type is the 4th generation.

What color is yours? I did mine at autobac too about a year ago. It was orange, but didn't help much. My tow bar and exhaust till hits the kerb.
As for bumps, bouncing did reduce a little.

I inquired abt that also last week at Autobacs (Bukit Batok). Was told that the lifespan is up to 3 years.

Any side effect by installing this spring stiffeners? Thinking of installing too. By installing this, meaning our suspension is harden hence reducing spring effect (not that bouncy)?

I also donno what size..  :bleh: they will check and inform you so quite safe.. Look for Thomas. Experience guy and good service. After installing the stifferner and horn, he checked all my four wheels (extracted X2 metal bits from 2 wheels) checked for leaks, top up N2. Wahh... so good.

nahh.. i don't think so.. this is a 'drop in' mod which can be taken out easily... so it shouldn't affect the warranty. I just sent the car back to change the steering wheel coupling 23th Dec. They din say anything about the stiffeners.

thx latiorarri. How do you feel after installing that stiffener? I'm having steering wheel coupling problem as well, will send in to TCM soon.
