Komoco Motors organized first ever Hyundai Fuel Economy Challenge, featuring 60 cars in 2 engine classes

Distance : approx 100 km pre-set route through traffic lights and congested heartlands of areas like Tampines, Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang, Toa Payoh, Orchard Road and also the PIE

Results :

overall champion - 17.9 km/l - Verna 1.4 litre (manual) saloon

Class A - up to 1600 cc - 15.6 km/l - Avante automatic

Class B - 1601 cc and above - 10.5 km/l - Sonata

Korean cars are slowly making their mark. But oh well..

IMHO, to me, FC is very subjective. Driving pattern plays a part.

Also, you can pay so much for a car, what is that few dollars more per tank? Just to save that few dollars and you drive slowly and become a SLAVE to your car.

You only become a slave when the car makes you do things you don't like. If you enjoy saving fuel, saving money and saving mother earth, than hypermiling will be fun for you.
