yup.... the air filter could be the cause of engine noise
my previous car also faced the same problem...
when i change back to normal filter, the noise reduces.

for fuel consumption, probably u can change to iridium spark plugs.
it do helps little bit.

my new ride for latio, now i testing the stock condition.
If the petrol consumption still remain at 11km/l, i will change to iridium spark plugs

oh smetink to let u all noe......spark plugs erm nt reali help in reducing the fc ......the pros around will enlighten more....
