Just go with your heart. If you are changing / upgrading your rims at the same time, that leave with less choices of the tyres.

Hi all, I need to change all the 4 tires soon. I need your valuable advice. I don't do tracking
but drive to K.L about once a month. My speed is 110-145kph. What is difference between
V8 RS/V12 EVO? Which tyre is more comfortable and less noisy and what is the price diff between them? My tyre size is 205/50R16. Lastly, which outlet should I go and who should I
call so as to get a discount? Thanks for replying

I'm actually in favour of the falken 912. Upgraded from my stock toyo to the 205/50 R16 about a month ago. Better grip on the wet road, esp experienced it during these few weeks of heavy downpour, better comfy in terms of noise level and better stability and less bouncy.

for sure...increased tire width gives better traction, plus its a UHP tire versus our stock HP tire. Stability and bouncy for sure also...from 65 to 50 profile.

perhaps when ur next tire change, change to the same 205 50 16, but a different tire, den its an apple to apple comparison.

yes, i understand your problem man...diff pple drive differently and have different requirements of their tires....some tires are supposedly quiet, but i have also heard of pple complaining noisy. Some tires which supposedly have reputation to be grippy, but still, will get complains that its not grippy enough to some drivers. It may be their ego speaking? or it may be that they are really aggressive tire and require semi slicks to control the car.

Take the civic type R for example, the stock tire is a really really hard semi slick tire called the RE070. So to type R drivers, they are used to hardsidewalls, give them a street tire which can be used on the tracks, and they will complain its too soft, whereas to a layman, the street racing tire can be considered very hard already. All depends on the car and the driver.

I think what you can do is do your own research, try searching for test results, what other forums may say etc etc. You might not want to check with tire shops directly first because its usually sales pitch, unless of course you feel that the guy can be trusted and is truthful in recommending the right tire for you, not just the tire which needs to be cleared off the shelf or because of profit margins. This paragraph may offend some vendors who are in our forum, apologies to that, but i am not directing to anyone or any company, just speaking from a consumer's pov.

Remember to buy the brand of tire from their brand origin and not from another country.....

Its difficuit to get people to accept korea branding tires as compare to japan branding tires. But I manage to get friends to change to korean branding tires and the feedback is very good....

Thanks for your comment. It is definitely valid. Will go for different tyres with the same profile for a fair comparison in my next change.

Most tyre shops have limited range of rims and tyres for us to change, and provide different services, hence sometimes we left with whatever is available for our choices.

profile usually refers to the aspect ratio of the tire aka sidewall height. U intending to change rim? or maintain 15"?

hi all,

just check out this website: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

i'm interested in changing to 16" rims and tyre as well. These 3 are by far the nearest:
215 50 16 - speedometer reading is 0% too fast
205 50 16
i juz minding my own biz why the others all cut me

So far only can get 205/50 cos its a common size as compared to the other 2. In fact 215/50 no such profile available.

oh.. thanks man..!!! another qn.. if i change at other place.. can i still do rotation at tcm next time?

Its possible to get Hankook K415 for only $88 nett also wat. Affordable, Comfortable, Lasting, and Sticky-When-Wet

I am considering changing to K415 after seeing some good feedbacks from users.
However, new tyres usually are more grippy and quiet when they are fresh and supple.

I wonder if some bro's here are kind enough to give more feedback after using it for maybe 1~2 years:

1. how many KM can this tyre travel before the thread is worn? 30k? 40k?
2. tyres usually get louder with wear. Does it become very noisy when past a certain mileage? eg. 10k? 20k?

Thanks in advance!

Hopefully one of our global moderators Latioboy aka Linus sees this and replies you. He will be the best person to answer u as he is on his 2nd set of K415s now.
